Hello World, It’s time to listen to Miggs!

August 30, 2012

My son Ryan and I had the pleasure of seeing a great band last year when they opened up for Candlebox and since then I have been listening to their music and following their career.  Please allow me to introduce them to you. “Hello World, I would like you to meet one of the hardest working bands out there, MIGGS and they have the great sound to back it all up!” Miggs has been around since 2001 and in that time were able to put out 5 great albums and they are not shy about touring. They are no stranger to booking upwards of 150 shows per year. When you watch them live, you can see how they truly enjoy what they are doing and their passion for their music shines through their songs. They have a great Rock/Pop sound but are so much more than just a title of a genre. With their incredible songwriting and their “feel good” music, they will have you dancing around in no time. They currently have their new [Read More]

Time to Hold On and take a listen to Shaun Grant

August 28, 2012

There is a new acoustic wonder that I would like to introduce you to. Shaun Grant is a talented singer/songwriter from Newcastle UK. Sometimes after playing in bands you decide when is the right time to travel that different path and do at alone and present your solo material to the world. Well that time is now for Shaun and we welcome his refreshing and soul touching sound. Shaun has a charming voice and with his easy listening and romantic lyrics will have you singing along in no time. His music is melodic and lyric driven which invites the listener and captivates them with his catchy verses.  If you like Oasis or Ed Sheeran and romance of David Gray, you will be immediately drawn into Shaun’s music. You can currently hear two of Shaun’s song on soundcloud at www.soundcloud.com/shaun-grant-acoustic and I think you will really enjoy them. I especially love the violin on his song, “Make You Mine” it completes the song.  I look forward to hearing more from Shaun Grant and hope you join me in [Read More]

New Music by Throwing Gravity will pull you in!

August 28, 2012

I wanted to let you know about a great new band that I have been listening to. It is Throwing Gravity and they are an alternative rock band with a Nashville edge that comes together beautifully. These guys just finished up a tour with another one of my favorite bands, 12 Stones and have been sharing the stage with other greats like My Darkest Days, Chevelle, Red and Evans Blue. Throwing Gravity was in great company with those bands and I am also sure gained many new fans with their own music. Their single, “Here we Go Again” has had multiple placements with NHL, MLB, and TNA Wrestling and next on their list is “The Inside”.  It is no wonder since both songs send out the good vibe and are energy driven.  The bass lines on The Inside are awesome. Here is their official video for “Here We Go Again” which will have you ready to face your battles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQ2iQIyit2k Their whole album, “It’s Not the End”, has such a great all around alternative rock sound [Read More]

What is your Go To Song?

August 26, 2012

I have always expressed on numerous occasions  how music has helped me through so many rough patches in my life as well as a way to celebrate the good times in my life. We all have Go To Songs. The songs that no matter what mood you are in, you can listen to it and it will provide relief, comfort, energy, happiness, inspiration, courage and just about any myriad of feelings. Growing up I even had my Go To songs. I was born in 1968 and was the youngest of 6 so I grew up listening to my older siblings’ music which I am grateful for. It led me to be have a vast appreciation of all types of music including the music of my parents’ time.  When I was young preteen, I remember one of my songs being, “Fantasy” by Earth, Wind and Fire. I remember watching my older sisters getting ready for parties or going out and they would dance around and sing the song. They were so happy so it became my Go [Read More]

The Kinected
80s

Have you been Kinected yet?

August 25, 2012

The 80’s not only had some great Rock and Roll but it also provided a time to enjoy New Wave and Modern Rock music. Well those times are long gone…. But guess what, there is a great new band out there called The Kinected  that is bringing it all back to life, blended with their own unique sound that is taking the airwaves by storm. It is great feel good music that reminds me of the first time I heard Pet Shop Boys or Duran Duran. They have an amazing  sound that is a fresh blend of rock, pop,  funk and an electro edge. There first single “Hypnotize” from their new album titled Evolution #9 has been dominating airplay on XM Sirius Channel 3 “20 on 20”. It will have you moving and wanting more and more! The Kinected is Ron Anthony on vocals, Alex Zapatier on guitar, Mike B on bass and Marck Mangel on drums. I had the opportunity to interview vocalist Ron Anthony who has such a smooth voice on this album. Here [Read More]

Open Letter to the Nagging Neighbors

August 25, 2012

We had difficulties recently with some nagging neighbors that we have had for 3 years. At the request of many, I have shared the letter once again.  When it was shared at a local music store, I had such great positive feedback from other parents and musicians who dealt with the same problem. So enjoy! Dear Nagging Neighbor, So here we go again. You complain about my son and his drumming and guitar playing to the Homeowners Association?? Well first off how about knocking on my door and talking to me instead of complaining to them every day for three weeks! I am home, I see you outside, I wave, etc but when it comes to this; you hide behind a phone and complain. Well here it goes….. My son plays his drums and his guitar sometimes at my own request to drown out your screaming kids. Yes, you know the one that screams every day at the top of her lungs because she doesn’t like bathtime and you tend to get too much soap in her eyes [Read More]

Get Infected with 12 Stones!

August 24, 2012

Earlier this past week, I went to see 12 Stones perform at the historical Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, Ca. This theater was first opened in 1905 and held historical acts such as Harry Houdini and Lily Langtree. Over the years it has housed acts such as Metallica, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Ramones, Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins and so much more. The current owner Tom Gaffey has continued to keep it open as an all-ages music venue and I applaud him as to how he has gone through great lengths to keep music alive in our area. So I was excited to see 12 Stones would be playing there and they were even bringing along their touring band, Concordia which I had just been happily introduced to earlier in the month after hearing them open up for Smile Empty Soul.  In addition, three great local bands were added to the opening lineup. First up, we had Mirrors which delivered a punk rock sound and uses their music as a platform to discuss how the pornography industry [Read More]
