What a week it has been! But guess what? You made it to Friday and that is something to celebrate. This week has been full of emotions for many and has created a lot of worry, uncertainty and stress for people. But for myself, one thing is certain, it has been a week full of bad ass music. Good music has always been the cure-all for us. Whether we are happy, sad, celebrating, worrying, etc. music is what you need to get by. Today we want to put the spotlight on a band that will definitely give you a much needed dose of ROCK! Check out Dead Day Revolution.

Dead Day Revolution from Los Angeles is not just “another rock band”. While many bands are trying to create the next big thing or style in music, Dead Day Revolution has one thing on their agenda…. Deliver kick ass rock that takes you on a wild ride as it picks up some alternative and punk rock along the way. It grabs a hold of you and demands to be heard. Earlier this year, they released an 11 song full bodied debut album, On Our Own. Check out a video for one of my favorite songs off it, Bury My Soul:

This is one band you are going to want to keep on your radar as you will be hearing a lot more from them in the coming months. They won the 95.5 KLOS Heidi & Frank “Stay or Go” contest this year. It’s a segment they have on their morning show on Fridays. Played a sold out show with The Eagles of Death Metal for the radio station event that included another amazing band that won Joyous Wolf as well as a performance by Andrew Dice Clay and Still Rebel. Their live shows are something that you don’t want to miss. Their pre-show ritual may be pretty low-key as Mike explains,

Our pre-show ritual usually starts in the van after arriving at the venue. I usually get stoned while Skeeter writes out the set list for the show while inspiring me with a song by an obscure artist like Arthur Brown or Allen Vega (Suicide). It’s pretty low key actually.

But that definitely must work at harnessing their energy, as they truly unleash it when they hit the stage. Mike tells us,

“First and foremost really loud music coming from two guys on stage. We don’t play with a bass player anymore and often hear from fans that they are amazed we can make so much sound with two guys.”

They are set to release a follow up EP next year and have been busy working with producer, Stewart Cararas. Stewart commented to Mike recently about working together,

“I’m really happy that you reached out to me months ago! This whole thing is really fantastic!! One of the coolest things I witnessed was while we hung and waited for Skeeter to arrive the other night, when he finally got there he came straight in and hugged his sister before acknowledging anyone or anything else!! That spoke volumes to me! So fucking cool!”

These are not only good hearted musicians but are some of the hardest working in the industry and work hard to stay connected to their fans via social media and shows. They have a couple upcoming shows in Los Angeles:

If you are remotely in the area, get yourself to a show. We can’t stress enough how important live music is. Mike shares some great words about getting out to live shows,

It’s always been important to see live music. When you flip through the radio or put on a record of your favorite band there is almost a certainty that they were out there playing clubs and bars at one point. Music is largely a representation of culture. Without the listener taking part in the experience it’s frankly no fun and uninspiring. Artists sacrifice quality of life to create something they want to share and empower people with. Listeners want to be inspired and connect with a song, a band or a movement. We need each other to create and keep the fire burning.
