Ever since capturing Echo Black at their show last year in San Francisco, we were hooked. Hailing from New York and bringing an industrial dark edge to their rock, they have been capturing the attention of rockers, pop lovers, and metal heads across the country.  You can’t help but get drawn into their web of dark, deliciously fierce music. We would like to share with you our recent interview with them as they share what is next in store for them:

Music Junkie Press: Thank you for taking the time out to talk with us here at Music Junkie Press! We have to tell you how much we love the video for your new song, Perfect ft. Telle Smith. How did it come about to work with Telle?

Danny Blu: When we were recording the song, we all decided we wanted to get a featured vocalist on it. We sent it around to a few singers, and when Telle responded and loved the song, we were stoked! He brings a nice quality to the verse and chorus, we couldn’t be happier!

Music Junkie Press: We love the video and it looks like you guys had a lot of fun making it? How was it for you guys and who came up with the concept?

Danny Blu:  We LOVED filming this one. Our drummer, Billy, actually came up with the concept. We’ve all been in a place when our own mind stands in our way and that’s what the video explores.

Music Junkie Press:  We understand you are currently recording, how has that been going for you?

Danny Blu:  Amazing! We have some great songs finished up and we’re still writing everyday!

Music Junkie Press:  We loved catching you perform here in San Francisco on your last tour. One thing is sure, you guys bring the energy to the stage! Do you have any upcoming show dates announced?

Danny Blu: We have a confirmed show in NYC on September 27th opening for Wednesday 13 at Webster Hall. And as far as touring is concerned… we’re not allowed to say yet, but there is some exciting news on the way!

Music Junkie Press:  When you guys hit the stage, the energy is unbelievable, and you always seem to truly connect with the crowd, even if they are seeing you for the first time as an opener. How has it been for you to hear from those “new fans” after seeing you and how you truly turned them onto Echo Black?

Danny Blu:  The response we got on our last tour was pretty astonishing. We played to crowds much larger than we ever had before and loved every second of it. We definitely made tons of new fans and friends. I think my favorite part of each show was watching the crowds go from “hmmm. Who are these guys?” to *hands in the air, singing along*

Music Junkie Press:  You have finished up quite a few tours. From them, has there been any cities that you can’t wait to return to and why?

Danny Blu:  Well, we LOVED San Francisco! We also loved Dallas and Austin in Texas. LA was a blast as well, we sold out the Whiskey a Go Go! And Cleveland, Ohio has been great to us.

Music Junkie Press:  Where is somewhere that you would like to tour on your next round?

Danny Blu:  We haven’t been to Florida yet, so that’s definitely on the list. We also haven’t been to Seattle or Nashville.

Music Junkie Press: Your music has successfully captured a wide range of audience as it brings out varied influences of industrial, pop, rock and more. But we feel that you guys have truly created your own signature sound. Have you always listened to a wide range of music growing up?

Danny Blu:  Absolutely! We all come from different musical backgrounds. Personally, I grew up with shock rock and industrial music. Our bassist, Rob, has roots in the basement punk/metal scene. Our drummer, Billy, is a huge piano rock fan: Bruce, Billy Joel, Goo Goo Dolls, Frank Sinatra. And Skiver, our guitarist, is a big sleaze rock and Japanese rock fan.

Music Junkie Press: Today the world can be such a dark place but with hope and dreams, we can move forward. What advice would you like to give to others about the world we live in today?

Danny Blu:  What a tough question. The world is in a bit of turmoil, isn’t it? I think it’s important to not hide from what’s going on. Looking away won’t change anything. If you have talent and a voice and a platform, it’s necessary to speak up and do your best to make people listen.

Music Junkie Press:  What is next in store for Echo Black? And please tell us some shows out West for us!!

Danny Blu:  We’re releasing new material very soon! And tour dates are coming sooner than you think! We’re very excited about this time in our musical career.

Music Junkie Press: Lastly is there anything else you would like to share with our audience and your fans?

Danny Blu: THANK YOU FOR LISTENING! We can’t tell you how much your support means to us!
