Day 8 of 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know goes to BlackRain

December 16, 2013

Let’s get down and dirty for Day 8 of 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know. How about some French glam rockers, BlackRain for Day 8?? These bad ass rockers first started in 2006 and quickly rose to fame in Europe and have become one of the most noted French rock bands.  You have Swan on Vocals and Guitars, Max on lead guitar and Mat on Bass and Frank on Drums. The first time I heard BlackRain is when my son Rockin Ryan played Overloaded for me and I was instantly transformed back to my nights spent on the Sunset Strip in the ’80s. At first I thought I was listening to an old Motley Crue track!! Swan on vocals just blows you away with his powerful voice and he has perfected the high vocal ranges of the ’80s. They have some shredding guitar with off the hook riffs.   You have to check out  Overloaded here:   Last year, BlackRain showed an excellent display of their risk-taking as they dared to take part in [Read More]

Countdown of 14 Bands that will rule 2014. #9 goes to Art of Dying

December 16, 2013

Today on our countdown of 14 Bands that will rule in 2014 goes to Art of Dying. Rockers, Art of Dying from Canada have a constant spot on my daily music playlist.  Their music not only kicks ass in rock n roll but also have such emotionally charged lyrics that many can connect and relate to. I don’t think a day goes by where I didn’t listen to an Art of Dying song.  As I mentioned before,  I personally, have experienced the power of healing through music by listening to my favorite Art of Dying songs at one of the hardest times in my life. It truly is music to feed your soul wrapped in blazing rock and roll. It has been great to watch Art of Dying become one of everyone’s favorite bands and their fans all have great stories to share. Art of Dying is Jonny Hetherington on Vocals, Greg Bradley on Guitar, Jeff Brown on Drums, Cale Gontier on Bass/Vocals and Tavis Stanley on Guitar and Vocals. These guys are on fire and [Read More]

Countdown of 14 bands that will rule 2014! #10 goes to Beware of Darkness

December 15, 2013

Here we are at the #10 spot, counting down the 14 bands that we think will rule 2014. Today for hot spot Number 10, we bring you Beware of Darkness. This band just exploded on to the scene this year and there is definitely no slowing them down.  Beware of Darkness was formed in 2010 by singer/guitarist Kyle Nicolaides and drummer Tony Cupito. They added bassist Daniel Curcio and they became a well rounded powerful trio. In 2013, they released their debut album Orthodox and their song Howl seemed to become one of everyone’s favorite new song including mine.  I remember the first time I heard it was when I was listening to the MusicChoice channel on cable. I was writing and the song came on, I almost stumbled out of my chair to race over and make sure I could find out what the song was. From that moment, many months ago,  we were pleased to hear it being played on Octane XM, Sixx Sense, radio and much more. You can pick up Orthodox on Itunes [Read More]

Today is Day 2 of our Guitarists and we are proud to bring you Sid Glover of Heaven’s Basement. It was our first time seeing them and it was awesome to see them play the big Monster stage.  Read more about their Aftershock performance here. In October we had the opportunity to see Heavens Basement play a smaller venue  in San Francisco when they opened up for The Pretty Reckless. It was a packed house at Slim’s and it was a stellar evening that included Louna from Russia and the whole night was amazing! Here is a video interview we did with Sid and Aaron from Heaven’s Basement when they played in San Francisco.   Heaven’s Basement truly has an incredible electrifying stage presence. Countdown of 14 Bands that will rule 2014! 11 goes to We As Human

December 14, 2013

We are counting down the top 14 bands that we think will rule 2014. Today is our day 11 and we are pleased to present We As Human for that honor. We As Human have had quite a successful year with the release of their self titled debut album and toured extensively in 2013. This year was the first time I heard We As Human and they really became the talk of the scene and within weeks everyone was getting to know their name. We were excited to catch them at the Aftershock Festival where they started the festival off with a kick ass in your face set. They were the first band of the day and everyone was rushing to get in to check them out after they hit the stage and played the first notes of their song. The crowd loved them and many came in not knowing who We As Human were, but left Aftershock with We As Human being one of their top festival highlights.  You can read our show review [Read More]
