SLASH to co-produce horror flick, Nothing Left to Fear by SLASHER FILMS

July 29, 2013

Iconic artist and Grammy winning guitarist SLASH is set to release on October 4th, a soundtrack album for his first co-produced horror film by his production company SLASHER FILMS, Nothing Left to Fear.   The original motion picture soundtrack has been written and produced by SLASH and Nick O’Toole. In addition to film score it will include the original song, “Nothing Left to Fear” that features vocalist Myles Kennedy. “It’s been equally intriguing for me to be involved with producing, writing and performing the music in NOTHING  LEFT TO FEAR. Film scoring prompts me to engage different styles of writing and guitar playing that don’t always present themselves when I make Rock n Roll records.” –SLASH Fans of SLASH will be able to get the album exclusively through PledgeMusic/Slash as well as other perks like interviews, video clips, signed vinyls, signed posters, merchandise and much more.  The movie will be released in select theaters on October 4th as well as Blue-Ray, DVD and On-Demand. You can watch a video by SLASH where he talks more about this [Read More]

Top 25 Cover/Remake Songs You have to know!

July 23, 2013

I have always loved cover songs, most specifically cover songs that I end up liking even better than their original.  During many of my my interviews with bands, one of my favorite questions I ask is if they could take a song from any other genre and turn it into their own, what would it be?  I have had some great responses, like Jettblack rockers doing a cover of Tina Turner’s “We Don’t Need Another Hero“, or Wratchchild doing a cover of the Beach Boys, “California Girls” or A Story Beneath doing a cover of the Mamas and the Papas, “California Dreamin“. Those are all remakes that I  hope get made.  What I really like is when an artists takes the original song and completely makes it their own, truly owns it and not just imitates.  Haven’t you ever heard a remake where you are singing the lyrics and then it comes to you, that this is a remake of an old familiar song, just made completely different.  Well here is my list of my [Read More]

The Smiths + Dexys Midnight Runners and a side of The Cure = Apollo Junction. Great New Music

July 21, 2013

Music is always the master of my emotions. If I am feeling down and need to vent, I can always turn to  music to help me through the process. Or if I am feeling good and need music to just energize me and complement my good mood, I put the right songs on to do that.  Well, today I was in one of those where I am literally in a doldrum type of state and went to do some work.  I put on some of the music that was given to me to check out and I have to tell you…. it was like magic… My energy level quickly rose,  I couldn’t help but smile and instantly feel good. I love when music can take you to a great place, especially when it is the first time you hear someone.  Today I have Apollo Junction to thank for the great escape of their music! These 5 guys from London are really something to listen to.  As their bio describes perfectly, “Apollo Junction born into the [Read More]

Brian Dugan announces his departure from Candlelight Red

July 16, 2013

Earlier today, Brian Dugan, drummer for Candlelight Red announced his departure from Candlelight Red. He posted the following on Facebook today. “Well another tour down and in the books. Unfortunately it will be my last playing the drums for Candlelight Red. Due to a busy tour schedule, which is good for the band, and family obligations at home,I felt it to be the time to step aside. In this business it is difficult at best to find a balance between both. This band is off to great things and I would never want to hinder its progress. To all the friends and fans I have met….thank you! This has been one of the best experiences of my life and one for which I am truly blessed. It saddens me to leave but at this stage is an unfortunate necessity. I will always be a fan of this band which has taught me so much about music and myself. To them I say thank you and to all my friends I say the same. Who knows [Read More]
