Get whisked away by the angelic vocals of singer/songwriter Sofia Donavan

June 11, 2015

Allow me to introduce you to the angelic vocals of Sofia Donavan. At only eighteen years old, she has been garnering the attention in the music scene, whether it be country, folk or pop. Her voice knows no genres, no boundaries, no limits. Just pure beautiful bliss when she sings. Check out Sofia performing Note To Tennessee at the Gibson sessions: Sofia has released her 2nd EP, Left To The Clouds last month and it is filled with emotionally driven songs that will awaken your senses and have you enjoying the moment or the pauses in life. Her song Rare as Gold is a personal favorite of mine as she captures such honest emotional vulnerability and then brings out this strong air of self confidence. Really a favorite of mine.  Make sure to pick up the new EP, Left To The Clouds by heading over to iTunes here. We will see if we can bring you an interview with Sofia soon. Alt-Folksinger Level and The Square premiere new video

June 11, 2015

Alternative folksinger songwriter, Level and The Square are premiering a  new video for their track, Like Stones. The song is from the artist’s debut album From Here to the James highlighting singer/songwriter Nik Piscitello’s soulful voice and melodic guitar reminiscent of artists like Iron & Wine or City and Colour. Check out the video here:   The nostalgic video comes from “Piscitello’s concept of the video came from using old etiquette footage on how to date as a metaphor for how we can never really be perfect in a relationship no matter how much we try. The end when the couple jumps back on the phone and we cut to driving footage represents the moment when you just take off in your relationship and the many roads you will travel along the way.” Nik’s vocals truly carry a depth of emotion that is floating a soulful sea. You check out his complete album From Here to the James which iss available for purchase digitally on iTunes and more. Make sure to visit his social media sites so you can stay up [Read More]

The Cerny Brothers premiere new song, The Kid off their upcoming album; Sleeping Giant

May 5, 2015

The Cerny Brothers have successfully created a new sound for their music which originally was acoustic, folk elements to a more electric rock style.  All the while, they have captured their folk spirit as it fits so well with their new music. They are premiering a new song, The Kid which is off their upcoming album, Sleeping Giant. Robert Cerny explains about the song, “This is a song about remembering who you are, how you grew up and what you were taught, and not losing sight of that in a different place with different people. It’s also about the strange notion of struggle, and that a lot of people don’t like to confront it, especially in a professional sense.  I felt like as a band we were supposed to go to meetings with people who wanted to work with us, look nice and pretend that the journey that got us in a that business meeting in the first place was easy.  But it was hard.  It all wraps up in the idea that I came [Read More]

The Cerny Brothers capture folk spirit in their new rock style

March 31, 2015

The Cerny Brothers have successfully created a new sound for their music which originally was acoustic, folk elements to a more electric rock style.  All the while, they have captured their folk spirit as it fits so well with their new music. Check out the video for their new song, Porch Lights: The song is off of their upcoming album, Sleeping Giant, which will be released worldwide on May 12th, 2015 via Krian Music Group. The album was recorded at legendary Bear Creek Studios in Seattle with producers Jerry Streeter and Ryan Hadlock, who are known for their work with Brandi Carlile and The Lumineers. Guitarist and video director, Scott Cerny explains about the song, “Porch Lights is about being young, desperate and hungry in a place that can’t contain your ambitions. We wanted to make a video that told a story of two lovers on the run in the biggest way we could. The need to escape, to run free, to chase that fire, wherever it may lead.” The Cerny Brothers are in the middle of [Read More]

Check out the new video from Nemes for Everest Isle

February 23, 2015

Time to check out the new video from Nemes for their song, Everest Isle. The video is just as fun as the new song is from this New England indie folk rock band. The infectiously catchy new song captures emotion as well as creating an uplifting vibe. If you ever needed a song to bring you a nudge of determination and a burst of hope, this is that song. I love it. Check out Everest Isle here: The song is the third off their debut full length album, I Carry Your Heart. Regarding the song/video, the band states, “‘Everest Isle’ is the culmination of years spent honing a close co-writing style that began in high school for our singers Dave Anthony and Josh Knowles. Our goal with the sound of the song was to output the energy that we bring to our live show while simultaneously creating an intimate connection with the listener. This is without a doubt one of our favorite songs to play live and we can’t wait to hit the road with it.” Nemes will be touring throughout 2015 so [Read More]

Midnight Cinema light up the Bottom of the Hill with their stellar set

September 12, 2014

This past Sunday, we made it down to San Francisco to catch Midnight Cinema as they performed at The Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. I have been waiting to catch them live and was so glad because all that waiting, was well worth it. They played to a packed crowd as they recently released their debut album, Lightning in a Bottle last month. It was great to see the crowd sing along to favorites like Hurricane, Back to the Butterflies, and Lightning in a Bottle. Another highlight is when they performed a dare I say…… cover… of Angel’s on the Moon, the big hit from their previous band Thriving Ivory. I must tell you that I was not expecting them to play that song and it really took me to a very special place and time and brought me the bittersweet memories of my daughter whom I lost many years ago. It was a song that I used to play that helped me get out from under the dark place I was [Read More]

BullyWest proves that nothing can stop their need to Rock!

September 11, 2014

BullyWest, an indie rock band from Oakland may have had to weather a few bumps in the road, but these determined rockers prove that nothing can stand in their way and their need to ROCK! With a sound that blends grunge/rock/alternative/blues/americana and classic rock into their own unique style, they will truly capture your attention. We had the chance to see BullyWest perform at The Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, last Saturday night and they blew us a way. I was bummed to have not heard of them before because it would have insured Music Junkie Press’ presence at their performances! The band has had to endure through the recent challenge of having thousands of dollars of their gear stolen at a recent show. This in no way, will stop them from forging ahead. Their fans and friends quickly stepped up with support and they held a benefit concert with Iron Heart, Six Gun Saints and other bands performing at Red Hat. They raised some money but still have an upward climb to replace their gear. [Read More]
