First you know I love my metal and I love my Katy Perry. So can you imagine what would happen when those two worlds collide??? Well, you don’t have to. Hardcore band, Lions Among Us from Pittsburgh, PA did a cover of Katy Perry’s “Part of Me”last year and I am finally getting around to checking it out! Gus G. to release solo album, “I AM THE FIRE”with Century Media Records!

Get ready world for the solo album next year by guitar virtuoso Gus G. Gus recently signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records for his solo album to be released in Spring 2014. Gus G. has had quite a success with his work as Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist as well as his own band, Firewind. French Metal band DAGOBA takes over San Francisco!

WOW! I know I told you about DAGOBA coming to San Francisco to open up for returning metal band, Dir En Grey but you can’t believe how awesome they were! I have been looking forward to seeing DAGOBA live since we have been playing a lot of their heavy songs from their latest album, LP “Post Mortem Nihil Est.” It was recently released here in the US only a couple weeks ago and on Sunday night they came to The Regency Ballroom on the Ghoul 2013 Tour with Dir En Grey. Steel Panther highlights from San Francisco show!

Steel Panther on a Friday night? What better way to PARTY!! On November 8th, Steel Panther returned to the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco for another solid performance to a packed house. They had two excellent opening bands, Hillbilly Herald and SpiralArms. Make sure to check out their write ups as well. When Steel Panther performs, it is always an amazing show. I know a lot of people think of them as only a heavy metal parody band, but you can’t ignore that these four guys are extremely talented musicians and can rival many metal bands out today with their talent. The Broken Ravens from Scotland are our Tuesdays Travels Pick of the Week!

A great new rock band from the Stornoway from Isle of Lewis, Scotland called The Broken Ravens are our Tuesdays Travels Pick of the Week for Music from around the world! You are really going to love this band, they remind me of a mix of Black Sabbath with Soundgarden. The Broken Ravens are Kevin Clark on Drums, Lotto Ferguson on Bass/Vocals, Calum ‘Thrash’ Macaulay on Guitar/Vocals and Bugsy Maclean on Guitar/Vocals. What is great about this band is that they each have very diverse musical influences and together they have created their own unique sound which has to be heard! We asked Kevin if they could name three of their biggest influences and here is what he told us, “As all our influences are so diverse, we nearly ended up in a big fight over choosing just three , but, after a struggle, we managed to get it down to 4. Last month, we introduced you to a bad ass rock band Spider Rockets. You can read more about that here. Spider Rockets are from New Jersey and they have an incredibly unique sound that blends influences of punk, rock, metal and alternative and so much more. Helena Cos is on lead vocals and she has such a charismatic energy while she sings that draws you in. Johnny Nap is on lead guitar and backing vocals and Greg Manning on bass guitar and backing vocals. On drums is Dan Prestup. These four together conjure up some bad ass rock. ICED EARTH announce North American Headlining Tour in 2014!

2014 is going to be an amazing year for metal band, ICED EARTH. We have been very excited about their upcoming album, “PLAGUES OF BABYLON”which is set for a January 21, 2014 release on Century Media Records. They have also announced their North American Headlining tour with Sabaton and Revamp starting in April 2014. ICED EARTH guitarist and vocalist, Jon Schaffer explains more about the album, “This is a seriously heavy album with a seriously brutal album cover. I’m sure it will go down as a classic in the epic ICED EARTH catalog. We feel that the package with SABATON and REVAMP is very strong and we are very excited to tour the U.S. and Canada again and kick some major ass!” Now that is going to be one fierce album and the tour is going to be just as brutal.
