Post Animal bring psych-prog rock to Great American Music Hall

June 23, 2023

Last night opening for Temples at Great American Music Hall was the psychedelic progressive rockers Post Animal.  They got the crowd energized as soon as they hit the stage and continued with a non stop energetic set. Their set list brought about everything from indie-alternative, progressive rock, heavy rock, psych-groove and so much more. It was engaging and spellbinding. Check out photos from their set by our Rockin Ryan: You can check out a video from their set here: In addition, we picked up some cool merch which included their cassette and a cool shirt. I can’t say it enough, when you head out to enjoy live music and love the set, pick up some merch from the them.  It is the best way to support a band and you will end up with a closet full of great memories of concerts past. Daniel Romano’s Outfit; a breath of fresh air into the rock scene

June 22, 2023

Tuesday night The Independent for The Dirty Nil and Daniel Romano’s Outfit show. The co-headlining tour brought the bands to San Francisco and we enjoyed openers Wander. We then were treated to a non-stop rockin set by Daniel Romano’s Outfit. This was an absolutely stellar set that was truly a much needed breath of fresh air into the rock scene.  It was spellbinding in every sense and was a full on rock presentation. Their fun, energetic spirited set had the audience in awe, just as were. The music brought everything to the stage; powerful vocals, thunderous guitar, boundless energy and a vibe that raced across the venue, captivating each and every audience member. If you have watched the Amazon series Daisy Jones & The Six, there is something magical in their performances and Daniel Romano’s Outfit had that allure, if not even more. As Rockin Ryan comments, “a band you need in your life! BADASS!” Check out some photos from their set by our Rockin Ryan: You can also check out a video from their [Read More]

Photogallery: Silverstein, Comeback Kid, Senses Fail and Koyo

December 5, 2022

2022 is slowly coming to an end. Despite the big “C” it was a busy concert year. Everything is almost back to normal. During the long break many tours have been postponed or canceled, so this year the concert world had a lot of catching up to do. Silverstein have been to Munich during their 20 years-anniversary tour . Fast forward 2 1/2 years …Silverstein are back. This time they brought Koyo, Senses Fail and Comeback Kid with them. With four bands on the bill, the show started early at 7 pm. The venue wasn’t packed at the time, which as expected changed over the course of the night. Koyo and Senses Fail have done everything to make quite an impression that night. Senses Fail being quite popular in the US, are still not very well known around here yet, but I’m pretty sure that’s going to change, once they play here more often. Comeback Kid was kind of the “odd one out”. After all, they are a hardcore band, which musicwise stood out amongst [Read More]

Greta Van Fleet soar to new heights with the upcoming release of The Battle at Garden’s Gate

April 9, 2021

ev·o·lu·tion: noun the gradual development of something, especially from a simple to a more complex form. “The evolution of Greta Van Fleet’s music is wildly apparent with their new release of The Battle at Garden’s Gate.” First, I must reveal that our love for Greta Van Fleet began long ago, in early 2017, as their gritty old style rock n roll captivated us from first listen. Their music soon became the soundtrack to some of our most difficult times. We sifted through what remained of our home and business which were lost in the Santa Rosa Tubbs Fire, blaring Black Smoke Rising, the music providing a cathartic release. Over the years, their music and shows have satisfied our intense need for Rock n Roll. As we waited for their new release in hopes of another “Highway Tune” or “Safari Song” to whisk us away into rock abyss, we were teased with music that was definitely of a different style. With each new prerelease, we could sense that with the arrival of The Battle of Garden’s [Read More]

Matt  Jaffe hits his stride with Undertoad – picking up where David Bowie left off

March 11, 2021

Matt Jaffe has hit his stride with  his latest album, Undertoad.  I have been following Jaffe since he was 14 and playing hugely good guitar at a house concert series in Northern California and have been waiting for this album since then.  At the age of 16 he was discovered by  Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads and together  they produced his first album.  Seven good albums later, Undertoad has positioned him for the very big time. With 7 sophisticated songs that transcend  the boundaries of rock and create an urgent universe of their own.   Undertoad opens with  “Broken Flowers” ,  a song that makes you sway, cry,  and think as its hypnotic guitar and his high-pitched but perfectly modulated voice carry you into a Leonard Cohen-like cinematic world, but with a rock beat.  Keeping up the energy in “Punch Drunk Love” Jaffe moves the pitch even higher, while staying smooth and addictive as he spins out a tale we all know. He stays in the deep emotional narrative mode with “Beacon in the [Read More]

PHOTO GALLERY: Greta Van Fleet delivers unparalleled performance in San Francisco

October 3, 2019

As we are still reeling from covering the Greta Van Fleet show in Las Vegas, our exhilaration has been lifted to a new level with GVF’s performance in San Francisco. (If you missed it, check out our photo gallery and review of the Las Vegas Sept. 27th show here). Last night, we were excited to catch GVF perform in our hometown to a massive crowd at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Fans lined up early, some arrived in the wee hours of the morning, ready to ride the rail of today’s hottest rock band. After you have experienced a Greta show, you fully understand wanting to be right up close and personal, to experience the energy and charisma that the band delivers to their fans. But fear not, whether you are riding the rail or kicking it in the back, you are treated to one hell of a ROCK SHOW when Greta Van Fleet performs. And when it’s over, all you are thinking is, “When is the next show?” Last night was no exception as [Read More]

September 29, 2019

There is an abundance of things to do on a Friday night in Las Vegas.  But on September 27th, the place to be was at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel. Greta Van Fleet brought their March of the Peaceful Army Tour to a sold out crowd and delivered a spellbinding and ethereal performance. Fans lined up early for the General Admission show and the crowd was a pleasant display of diversity through age, culture, race, etc.  The collection of  people from all walks of life came together in peace, love and unity to celebrate the music of Greta Van Fleet. The night kicked off with a crowd pleasing set by Shannon and The Clams. The energy of the crowd radiated and intensified as they anxiously awaited the arrival of Greta Van Fleet to the stage. As the lights dimmed and the smokes billowed, the band took to the stage and the crowd went wild. Frontman Josh Kiszka threw out the highly desired white roses and then announced, “It’s another day at the [Read More]
