Munich, Backstage Club, June 8th, 2016

Just a few months after playing as an opener for Escape The Fate, New Years Day came back to Germany for their first headliner tour. That also led them to Munich.

The Backstage, which is a bigger area with various different sized venues, was really quiet that night, because the only venue open was the club, which is the smallest of the main venues there.

A good part of the audience that night was there on a special occasion. It was a school class with three teachers. They went to the show as part of a school project. If only I had a teacher like that in my school years…. Unfortunately, New Years Day didn’t have time to spend with the class, but Down To Date took time after their set to hang out with them for about half an hour. Pretty sure a special moment.

Down To Date is a pop-punk/hardcore band from Berlin. They were the only opening band that night. They had the crowd going from start to finish of their set. Though not known by many people in the crowd, everyone cheered along and simply had an awesome time.

New Years Day only played a 45 minutes set. Amongst others they performed all their better known tracks like ‘Malevolence’, ‘Kill Or Be Killed’, ‘Defame Me’ and ‘Angel Eyes’, the male voice part was done by Jeremy Valentine this time. The audience loved the show, the band seemingly too.

After the show Down To Date was at the merch table to hang out with the people. New Years Day spent their time after the show with ‘Meet and Greet’ people, so the rest of the audience was ushered out of the venue pretty quickly while the others lined up to get their time with the headliner.

Make sure to check both bands out online
