Last night on America’s Got Talent, I had my faith in the younger generation restored and I know Heavy Metal will always live on!  I am not a regular at watching music/talent reality shows but I had caught a glimpse of a 6 year girl screaming out some heavy metal vocals and had to find out more. Yes, Sugar and Spice and Metal is Nice. That is what this little girl is made of!

I was able to watch the full segment on Youtube and it was incredible. Out came this adorable 6 year old girl in a cute little polka dot dress, Aaralyn O’Neil and she was with her 9 year old brother Isaiah O”Neil.  Isaiah played drums as Aaralyn shocked the judges as she belted out her screams to her original song, “Zombie Skin”!  She must  have been channeling Mitch Lucker because I was amazed and loved every second of it. On the judges panel you can see Howard Stern and  Howie Mandel fully enjoying it. Then you see the shocked and confused faces of Mel B and Heidi Klum. Howard Stern was concerned for the little girl’s voice and hastily pressed the X as well as Mel B. So with 2 Strikes down watch and see if these little metal heads get to go to Vegas!

Honestly, I applaud their parents in showing their kids that Metal and Rock are here to stay. Just the other day in the store I was watching a little 6 or 7  year old sing the lyrics to some rap/hip hop song and I couldn’t believe that she was rapping  “I got a cute bitch with me” and her Mom was right there smiling, shaking her hips and loving it. My son soon grabbed his Iphone and put it loud as he blasted some Suicide Silence and you should have seen the looks on their faces, priceless.  Another funny story is I remember when my husband’s estranged/bimbo sister was teaching her then 5 year old daughter the lyrics to “Lady Humps” by Black Eyed Peas. My niece kept asking what her lady humps were and then her Mom told her they were her knees (I guess her attempt at trying to clean up the song!). I could only imagine now with my niece being a teenager and having someone comment on her Lady Humps and she looks down at her knees!

Anyway, to each their own. As long as it is music that is being enjoyed I am happy. Some styles I would not consider music and just annoying static,  but i will save that for another time!

So let’s all crank up some Metal! Get those horns up and pick up some Metal for the little ones in your life!
