As we are winding down the year and taking a good hard look at all the incredible albums of 2015 that have been released, Psychic Warfare by Clutch has become a strong contender for top honors. The album which was their 11th studio album was released last month  and was produced by longtime producer Machine (Lamb Of GodEvery Time I Die).  It is a hearty 12 track album that will have you taking another hard look at Clutch and appreciate all the years of hard work that this band has consistently put in.

You can’t help but be blown away with X-Ray Visions as it takes you on a journey through paranoia and delivers a kick ass track. Check out the video for X Ray Visions:

A Quick Death in Texas delivers an infectious groove wrapped in stoner rock that just invites you to move, grind and shake. Truly a standout track as you then transcend into a dose of classic rock with Sucker Witch and Your Love is Incarceration. In a time when musicians are trying to toy with mixing new elements and sounds, Clutch is there to give us exactly what we want! Their hard rock grind that infects our soul and provides us with the energy to go about our day.

The intro to Doom Saloon takes you right into the doors of a dirty blues saloon and invites you into Our Lady Electric Light. This track is fierce as it brings you a western tale of vampire love. It is my favorite track that I keep going back to. You are drawn into the tale and can’t help but become emotionally involved.

Noble Savage ramps it up with a fast paced frenzy that will take over your body and have you head banging and thrusting your fists. It is like our anthem for rock and roll as we raise our fists and declare our allegiance to rock and roll.

Another personal fave is Decapitation Blues and has one of my favorite riffs which will lead to intense head banging. The lyrics are incredible as Neil created a storyline around the replacement of the discs in his neck. Check out a commentary which Neal spoke about this song:

The album closes out in a big way with Son of Virginia as it brings a deep blues vibe that is mysterious and intense. You stand there listening and slowly you are whisked away into the storyline. The epic song brings out a deep southern flair with the riffs amid Neil’s powerful vocals are captivating from start to finish.

This hard rock album really highlights strong guitars and powerful vocals. It is definitely one of my favorite albums for 2015. We had the chance to catch Clutch live at Aftershock Festival 2015 and that is where you are truly blown away. When you get to see Clutch bring  their songs to life on stage, it is mesmerizing.
