Gerard Way kicked off his tour in San Francisco earlier this evening at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco. The iconic venue which is covered in posters and pictures of many of the amazing artists that have graced that very stage such as Foo Fighters, Jim Morrison, Janis, Grateful Dead, Green Day, Slash, just to name a few. This night, the magic and beauty on the stage was created by none other than Gerard Way. The venue was packed and there were fans who waited in line most of the day, as they happily took their place on the barrier in front of the stage. The opening band was The Eeries whom we saw perform at Aftershock Festival. They were awesome and their sound reminded me of a blend of Nirvana and Beck. Check out some killer photos by our Rockin Ryan of their set:

Next up was the headline set by Gerard and the crowd went wild in anticipation as the slightest movement on the stage would have them errupt in cheer. Several times the roadies were the recipient of the loud screams as the made sure everything was ready for an amazing night. The band came out in their matching white dress shirts and ties, all sharply dressed and ready to conquer the set. Gerard took the stage in his dapper attire and the entire venue was filled with loud cheers and screams. Everyone was so excited to witness and be part of Gerard‘s first solo tour and he exceeded any and all expectations we might have had. He completely blew everyone away with his performance. He has such an intense passion when he sings that you are just captivated by his magnetic charm.

Gerard’s vocals carry such emotion and it is no wonder that so many fans feel such a connection when he sings. He brings out the complete honesty in his music, which is somewhat lacking in today’s music scene.  Song after song, the crowd sang along and raised the energy to insurmountable levels. He pleased everyone with playing crowd favorites such as Brother, Millions, Maya the Psychic, Drugstore Perfume and much more. Check out a sneak peek of photos from his set by our Rockin Ryan:
