Last night Munich was in for a special treat. Tom Keifer, best known as the Cinderella frontman, stopped by to take us all back down memory lane.

The Backstage Halle was fully packed, when the show started at 8.30 pm, about 30 minutes later than announced. There was no opening act, which is kinda unusual, but it’s also not that often that acts ‘with a long history in the Rock n’ Roll business’ still draw that many people.

Keifer started the show with ‘Fallin’ Apart At The Seams’, the opening track of Cinderella’s second studio album ‘Long Cold Winter’. The set contained some of the songs from his first solo-record ‘The Way Life Goes’ which was released about 2 ½ years ago, like ‘It’s not enough’, ‘Different Light’ and ‘The Flower Song’. The second big part on the set-list were Cinderella songs. Everyone that was there for those wasn’t gonna be disappointed, because he played all the great tracks that were hit singles for the band like ‘Shake Me’, ‘Nobody’s Fool’, ‘Coming Home’ and ‘Shelter Me’. A highlight of the show is usually the performance of ‘Don’t know what you got’ together with his wife Savannah. This time she wasn’t able to make it out on tour, due to a surgery she had at home. Keifer told the crowd about it, called her and the audience sang the song together with him and the band.  Hopefully Savannah, on the other end of the line, could hear it. On that note our best wishes for a speedy recovery, so next time Tom Keifer comes back to Germany, she can be part of the show again.

After finishing the set with ‘Shelter Me’, Keifer came back on stage with three encores. Two of them cover songs, ‘It’s Only Rock n’ Roll’ by the Rolling Stones and ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ by the Beatles. The grand finale of the show was saved for one of my favorite Cinderella songs ‘Gypsy Road’.

To sum it all up, it really was a trip down memory lane to hear all of Cinderella’s big hits performed live once again. The new songs from Keifers solo record fit right in with the later Cinderella releases and definitely show a love for blues rock music. Though having some difficulties with his vocal cords in the past, everything seems to have been back to normal. Every note was on point. A great performance of a really sympathetic, down-to-earth guy. I’m definitely looking forward to a next time…
