12 Days of Rock Christmas!
Day 9

On the 9th day of Christmas my Rock and Roll love gave to me some sexy glam rock from Crashdiet.  I have been transported back in my time machine and I am walking down the Sunset Strip in the mid 1980’s. Up and down the strip I can catch a show, anything from Glam Metal, Hair Bands, or even some Punk shows. I have my favorite pair of fringed white Zodiac Boots, bright zebra print top and my short pink skirt. Of course I have my hair in my high upstyle and tons of hairspray. I am ready to check out some bands and rock out. That is what Crashdiet brings back to me. All my favorite memories of partying and rocking out in the 80’s but now I can enjoy that same feeling while listening to this Swedish “sleaze rock” band. They are like that second shot of whiskey, it feels great but be prepared for some fun and trouble.

I have had some deep discussions with others about how music should evolve and not repeat itself, etc. You can’t place a specific period of time where only that music can be played or created. I am glad Crashdiet  is putting out new music from an era that is thought to be left in the past but yet still, so desired. Look around, you see so much from the ’80s making a comeback. (Truly, I don’t think the ’80’s ever left us, thank God!) Whether it is the ’80s inspired clothing that you see even on the runways today to movies like Rock Star, or Rock of Ages which highlight the life of a rockstar or books written by rockers like Nikki Sixx, Steven Tyler, Vince Neil, Slash that tell the tales of their ups and downs in the rock world. I love them and I think that is what helped to create a generation of younger people who began to listen to ’80s bands for the very first time and really enjoy them!  Now they can appreciate seeing bands like Crashdiet play and get the feel and energy that we got back then.  Check out the song “Generation Wild”, you will swear you were back at Gazarri’s or the Whiskey.

Crashdiet is Simon Cruz on Lead Vox, Guitar, Martin Sweet – Guitar, Peter London – Bass and Eric Young – Drums. The great thing is that Crashdiet’s music does not just appeal to the younger generation. You have those of us who lived and survived life in the ’80s on the Sunset Strip and they bring their own unique sound to it and it just Rocks! When I first put on Crashdiet, it was as if Barry Weiss  discovered these hidden recordings that were pulled out from his latest win on Storage Wars. Then you push play and you are listening to songs that blend everything from bands like Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison, Skid Row, Hanoi Rocks, and so much more.

Crashdiet is just releasing their new album in January “The Savage Playground” and you can actually pre-order it now from their website. Make sure to check them out and hopefully we can get them back here to California for some more shows since I missed them when they came to Hollywood this past summer.  I will have to see if I can find where I put my Zodiac boots though… Here is the Official Video for the first single from that album “Cocaine Cowboys”.

Crashdiet has a lot planned for 2013. Firs with their new album being released on January 22, 2013 and then they will be heading out on the Scandinavian Hell Tour 2013, and then their Savage Playground World Tour. I can’t wait to see the US dates!
