Allow me to introduce, your favorite new band to you… MADLIFE!  2013 is definitely the year for MADLIFE! So far, they have been off and running with many announcements, new album and new endorsements. Their music is definitely going to be heard by the masses this year as they set out on an International tour as well!  This industrial hard rock band has such a great sound that combines what you miss from your old style rock and roll and fuses it with their industrial hard sound to deliver energy driven music for today’s world.  You will get hooked on them as I did years ago.

Madlife are from Los Angeles and you have  Angry Phil on Vocals, Isaiah Stuart on Guitar, Kyle Cunningham on Drums and Carlos Pagan on Bass.  We had the pleasure of interviewing Madlife and here it is….. just for you…..

Music Junkie Press:   I am so glad to hear all the buzz about you guys! I have been a longtime fan and I have heard people talk about the new band, Madlife. I don’t think many know how long you guys have been around. Could you share with us how and when Madlife was formed?

Kyle: That’s an Isaiah and Phil question. I came in later.

Isaiah: It was formed out of a band I used to play in called MERGE. We were a rock project that did pretty well on the LA scene in the early 2000`s. MERGE ran it`s course and 3 members decided to continue on with a new heavy sound. We liked the heavier more electrovibe and ran a add looking for a like-minded singer. Angry Phill answered and that was it. The original Bass and Drummer moved on but Angry Phill and I found new members and continued forward with the MADLIFE project.

Music Junkie Press:  Who were some of the artists and bands that have influence Madlife?

Kyle: We individually have our favorites that bring their influence into the music we write I believe. I’m all over the place honestly. I go from NIN, Sevendust and the Prodigy, to Duran Duran, Jeff Buckley, and the Beatles.

Isaiah: Linkin Park, Korn, NIN, KFMDM, Ministry

Music Junkie Press: I absolutely love your song, ‘To Live and Die in Hollywood” and the video is awesome. If you could have 5 things survive with you during the apocalypse, what would they be?

Isaiah: Thanks a million! Great question…is this the NUKE or Zombie Apocalypse? Well I clearly need a sword, my band, scotch would be nice, guns and ammo. Does that count for one or two? And dark sunglasses!

Kyle: Thank you so much! That was a long shoot that I don’t wanna repeat ha! Ok, 5 things I want to survive with me: Malibu mansion on the beach completely intact, my iPod, food and water, my dog, and Emily Ratajkowski.

Music Junkie Press:  If you could remake any song from any other what would it be?

Kyle: That’s a tough one! I’m not sure. It’s funny because Isaiah could name 50, while Phil would rather have his teeth pulled out with pliers than do a cover song!

Isaiah: Probably Closer by NIN

Music Junkie Press:  Dream lineup. If you could have three bands/artists living or dead to play a concert with, who would they be?

Isaiah: ACDC, Rammstein, Iron Maiden

Kyle: NIN, Muse, and Rammstein

Music Junkie Press:  If you could go back and give your 14 year old self, any advice what would it be?

Kyle: Invest in certain companies, and give myself the winning lottery numbers!

Isaiah: USE EARPLUGS!!!

Music Junkie Press:  We at Music Junkie Press are strong believers about how music can help or heal someone through their rough times, can you share any personal instance where music helped you through something?

Isaiah: I have had quite a bit of chaotic un conventional upbringing. I would say the constant desire to listen to and play music helped keep my focus on moving forward in a positive manner towards creation not destruction.

Kyle: I think music heals and helps us EVERY day! Not just when something good or bad happens. Our moods change in seconds, because life changes. And music is right there with us for whatever we’re going through.

Music Junkie Press:  If we could peak into your playlist or Ipod, what would the next three songs on shuffle be?

Isaiah: Hmmmmm, let me look……. Sixx AM, Rammstein, and Barry White… what?? How did that get there?? All I can think of is Chef from South Park. Barry White RULES!!!

Kyle: Hang on…shuffling now: Blue Stahli – Anti You, Tears For Fears – Head Over Heels, Tweaker – Sleepwalking Away

Music Junkie Press:  Any upcoming shows we should know about?

Kyle: We’ll have some shortly to announce once confirmed

* * * * *

Music Junkie Press:  What are three things that you can tell us about Madlife that we wouldn’t know?

Isaiah: Angry Phill is actually a nice family guy and Kyle is the devious one. Don`t let appearances fool ya!!

Kyle:  ? I’ll give you 4 because I like you: Isaiah is a Star Wars nerd (ask to see his light saber collection), Phil is really a teddy bear but will gut you with a knife if he has to, Carlos is really a guitar player, and I’m an only child with commitment issues ha!

Music Junkie Press:  What does Madlife have in store for us for 2013 and where can we catch you guys next?

Isaiah: We have the new EP 21st Century Megalomaniac dropping in May along with the new video for Just One Gun. Probably catch us doing a few dates in the South West in May, again waiting for confirmation then well be posting the dates!

Kyle: And I might dye my hair a different color!
