SPOTLIGHT BAND: Bay Area rockers CRASH PILOT release new video and song, SIP

February 10, 2022

Who could ask for anything better as a birthday gift than a new video/song from rockers Crash Pilot?  Hell yeah, what a great day to celebrate the new music out now from Crash Pilot. They are releasing their new song, SIP and it has a killer video that will have you ready to rock. Who is Crash Pilot? CRASH PILOT features singer/songwriter Nikki Scott, Shredmeister Omri KB, bassist David Alvarez and drummer Cody Dawson.  Our mission is pretty simple, we’re here to play kick ass rock n roll and have fun in the process. We thrive on the adrenaline we get from performing live on stage, and we all share a deep passion for music. The songs we write are a reflection of our collective influences and our lived experiences. The process of writing is a collaborative effort, and though Nikki is the lyricist we like to keep an open door policy for ideas. We are all good friends, on and off the stage and are very excited to share our vision with the world. [Read More]

Spotlight Artist: Fast rising rock band Lone Tree and their new single, Rude Bwoy

June 29, 2021

Time to shine the spotlight on a fast rising rock band hailing from Nairobi,Kenya. Allow me to introduce you to Lone Tree, formed in 2016 and consisting of 5 expat teens that have come together to deliver fresh new rock. The young talented musicians each bring to life their own influences and worldly styles, meshing together, to give you exactly what you need. About the band: For the first 4 years, the band was named Refuge which represented what they were all about: an escape from shallow, inauthentic music. Originally meant as a joke, it ended up symbolizing their drive for social progress as well as their origins as “development kids”. Then something changed during the pandemic. 4 years together developed their skill and creativity but being hit with the biggest challenge imaginable determined their identity and purpose as a band. They worked intensively on their sound, songwriting and the message, letting their musical influences serve as inspiration rather than dogma, and developed their own contemporary interpretation. This all happened in their home studio on [Read More]

GRETA VAN FLEET WINS BEST ROCK ALBUM FOR FROM THE FIRES!

February 10, 2019

Today is a big day and no, I am not talking about my birthday! Tonight is the 61st Recording Academy Grammy Awards. Today during the pre-telecast, our favorite band has taken a big win. Greta Van Fleet has won Best Rock Album  for From the Fires. This is a huge win for them and we congratulate them on all their hard work.  They were up against some great talent, Alice in Chains, Rainier Fog; Fall Out Boy, M A N I A; Ghost, Prequelle; and Weezer, Pacific Daydream.  From the Fires was the double EP from Greta and was released November 10, 2017. That album is such a special and personal one for all of us at Music Junkie Press. It is the music that got us through one of our darkest times; losing our home and business in the Santa Rosa Tubbs Fire.  For that, we thank them for getting us through to the light. They have three other nominations: Best Rock Song  for Black Smoke Rising Best Rock Performance for Highway Tune  Best New Artist  The pre-telecast has already announced St. Vincent taking [Read More]

Top Live Performance of 2018 goes to Greta Van Fleet

January 1, 2019

As we enter the new year, it is time to look back at all the amazing musicians we saw in 2018.  From intimate performances to arena concerts, to festivals and more, great live music was everywhere. Check out our list of the Top Live Performances of 2018 for Music Junkie Press! Topping our list is none other than Greta Van Fleet, who are like a pair of shock paddles resuscitating the life of Rock n Roll. We were fortunate to catch four of their California shows in 2018. Within the last decade,  we have seen many bands deliver some good blips on the heartline of the rock and roll, but none as huge as the spike that Greta Van Fleet is making.  They are bringing a full on resuscitation to ROCK ‘N ROLL so get ready, hang on and enjoy the ride. The first show we saw this year was at the John Anson Ford Amphitheater: “The crowd grew to capacity as Greta Van Fleet were to take the stage. Calpurnia, overflowing with charisma delivers energetic set at legendary Fillmore in San Francisco

August 26, 2018

The Canadian indie rock band Calpurnia delivered a truly entertaining set last night at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco. The 4-piece band was founded in 2017 and is led by Finn Wolfhard, known for his role in the highly acclaimed series Stranger Things. Finn met drummer Malcolm Craig on the set of a music video and the chemistry was immediate, adding Ayla Tesler-Mabe and Jack Anderson to the mix.  Together their passion for music was evident and highlighted through their music. They released their debut single “City Boy” on 7 March 2018. Last night at the SOLD OUT show the crowd was ready for a night of great music.  When we arrived, hours prior to the doors opening, the line of dedicated fans wrapped around over two city blocks. The elation raced through the crowds as the young fans could hardly contain their excitement. The night kicked off with a killer set by Spendtime Palace, a 5 piece rock band from Costa Mesa who won the crowd over instantly. Check out some photos of their set by [Read More]
