Watch the new video from RadioBlack for Thread (I Am)

June 28, 2017

Rockers RadioBlack have released a new music video for their song, Thread (I Am). The kick ass song is off their debut self-titled album released earlier this year. The band comments on the video, “We shot the ‘Thread’ video in just a couple of hours. We wanted to find a way to capture the energy that drives our live show and we thought this video was a good opportunity to do that. Sometimes in a video shoot setting you can lose some of that energy and intensity, so when we started the shoot we decided to just lay it all out there the way we do live. I think that came across.“ Check out the new video here:   A bit about RadioBlack: RadioBlack is lead by singer/guitarist TJ Courtney, whose vocals and melodic songwriting blend grunge and 90’s inspired alternative rock. With drummer Derek Gledhill (founding member of Smile Empty Soul) and bassist Hayato Takano, a seasoned touring player, the ensemble makes for a powerhouse trio.   Prior to this new line-up, TJ [Read More]

Ramonda Hammer releases new alt-grunge-rock single, Bender and we are hooked on it!

June 28, 2017

We are hooked on the new track, Bender from Ramonda Hammer. It is an addictive track that brings together grunge and rock and swaddles it in 90’s alternative vibes and singes it with pop catchiness. We love it! The song is off their new EP Destroyers which is set for an August 4th release. Devin Davis comments about the new song, “I wrote ‘Bender’ when I was binge-watching Shameless for two weeks straight and I couldn’t get off the couch to do anything productive. In retrospect, I guess I could call it “research” or whatever, because I ended up writing this song. But yeah the lyrics are really just a conversation between two opposing sides in one’s brain. The verses ask questions from the more sane, healthy part of one’s psyche, and the choruses respond from the anxiety-ridden, depressed, and very frustrated side. And the reason this person (okay, it’s me!) is so effing frustrated is because they care so so so much, but when crippling depression sets in from time to time, when they [Read More]

Check out the track here:   Lead singer TJ Courtney comments about the album, “We put every ounce of ourselves into this album, and we couldn’t be more excited to release it. We tried to make a real record – not just a few singles with a bunch of filler in between. We wanted this to be a record you can pop in your car, push play, and just drive. No destination necessary, just you and the music,” lead singer TJ Courtney shares.“We grew up doing this with our favorite albums and did our best to capture that spirit. We also wanted to pay tribute to the 90’s bands that got us so excited about music when we were young. I think it’s rare nowadays for a band to strip its influences down to the ones that grabbed you and made you love music for [Read More]

Interview with Finn Bell of the 90’s grunge-infused alt rockers Love Ghost!

December 23, 2016

We recently featured a new favorite band of ours, the 90’s grunge-infused alt/rockers Love Ghost. The Los Angeles band was formed 15-year-old frontman Finn Bell and the band features teenagers who are well beyond their years with their music. They bring out our love of 90’s grunge but blended with alt rock and a modern sound. Finn who is the lead vocalist and lyricist highlights his songwriting by taking you on an emotional journey. He describes his process as a continuous stream of consciousness, drawn from his emotional response. Bell expresses ‘It’s a shame that people tend to shy away from anything that feels too personal, because those types of things let you know who you really are.’ We recently had a chance to chat with Finn Bell and are pleased to share our interview with you here: * * * * * * * *  Music Junkie Press: Did you or do you have a strong musical program in your schools that fostered your love for music? Finn: No, not as much. I learned [Read More]
