Take a listen to the new single Hey LA by new rockers, Taped3ck

September 15, 2014

Taped3ck is a new trio of rockers from LA that is composed of three talented solo artists who have combined forces to bring some fresh new rock n roll to the scene.  I am not going to do them the injustice of trying to peg them with a musical genre, category, sub-genre which has become so overly abused these days. I am going to simply state, these guys are ready to rock and are definitely worthy of your attention. Taped3ck is Kemble Walters – Vocals & Drums Lillard Anthony – Vocals & Guitar Al Walters – Vocals & Bass Check out their new song Hey LA:  Taped3ck is derived from years of friendship, fun and jamming together in front-man Lillard Anthony’s Los Angeles home studio.   Lillard and bassist Al Walters grew up together in music and have been performing together for years. We look forward to hearing from this new band. The new single is set to release on September 30th on digital outlets.Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to [Read More]

Matt Jaffe  and the Distractions expand their LA audience at The Federal Bar in NoHo.

July 10, 2014

By Patrick O’Heffernan, Host, Music FridayLive!  Matt Jaffe brought his high energy rock band The Distractions to North Hollywood’s Federal last night, energizing a respectable audience and demonstrating that he can play in larger venues in Los Angeles, the nation’s music capital.  This was a return trip for the young new wave band, having previously opened for bands at The Central in Santa Monica and the venerable, if smaller, The Mint. The young (he just finished his first year at Yale) northern California-raised guitarist and his band mates drummer Alex Coltharp and bassist Sammie Fischer have mastered the high-spirited sound that he shifted to when he exchanged the acoustic music of his high school days for an electric guitar.  With songwriting that shimmers with the best of the hard rock groups in the Southland clubs these days, Matt led his bandmates in nine new songs that showed how he has moved far beyond the slick blend-into-the-background pop music that surrounds us. And his lyrics always give us something to think about. I suspect the audience would [Read More]

Magic was in the air for the stellar set by Love and a .38 at the Troubadour

May 12, 2014

To continue our coverage from Diamond Lane‘s CD Release Party from Saturday night….. As I mentioned it was a night full of awesome music. We told you earlier about The Book of Curtis and Diamond Lane, now let us tell you about another highlight of the evening; Love and a .38. There must have been some magic in the air because I could never imagine Love and a .38 to top their last performance that I saw of theirs back in March at the Troubadour. Well, they certainly did just that. It was a set filled with some old Love and a .38 tricks as well as some new ones up their sleeves. They came out full 150% adrenaline running through their veins and they had one thing on their mind…. To blow our minds with their show. Ryan was as charismatic as ever and had the crowd under his rock and roll spell with his powerful vocals and seductive style. At one moment, I felt like Ryan was channeling Jim Morrison and was as engaging [Read More]

March 8, 2014

Last month, we headed down to the Troubadour to cover Lara Gladstone’s Gutter n Grind event at the Troubadour in Hollywood. We were excited to know that Love and a .38 would be there as they never disappoint in putting on an amazing set. Sure enough, they were there to deliver straight up rock and roll to the crowd and everyone was feeling alive. Love and a .38 will always will have you under their rock and roll spell. Love and a .38 harnessed the energy of the crowd and fueled it with their own, to create an excitement that could not be ignored. Whether you are caught in the powerful vocals of Ryan, the thundering riffs at the hands of Domo, the rousing bass lines of Justin or charged up by Danny on drums, one thing is for sure….. You are having a BAD ASS TIME! Together, these four with their individual personal styles, culminate and create a sound that needs to be heard. Whether you are a fan of classic or modern rock, blues, [Read More]

Interview with Justin Emord of Love and a .38 at NAMM 2014

January 31, 2014

Another one of our favorite bands that we found at NAMM is Love and a .38. They are truly one of the hardest working bands in Los Angeles and have a tight family (fan) base that extends across the country!  We ran into bassist, Justin Emord at the Hipshot Products booth at NAMM 2014. We were able to grab for a quick interview as he had his bass, Aurora on display. Check out our interview here:   We are excited to head down for Love and a .38’s upcoming show at the Troubadour in Hollywood on February 15th.  Now I think I am going to have to crank up some Love and  a .38 and I know the perfect song…. “Just a Woman”. That song is so bad ass and has such a bluesy classic rock sound to it and I just fell in love with it instantly. It has a great chorus that makes me want to cruise out on the open highway with no worries and my Love and a .38 turned up loud. If you [Read More]

Well they did it again! One of my favorite bands, Love and a .38 released their new song via a free download and it blows my mind again. They really seem to deliver just what I am missing these days. Their new song “Just a Woman” has such a bluesy classic rock sound to it and I just fell in love with it instantly. It has a great chorus that makes me want to cruise out on the open highway with no worries and my Love and a .38 turned up loud! They are playing this Thursday, 21st at the Roxy in Hollywood. You can still get tickets here at TicketWeb.  It is a show that we are so sad to miss! We tried to rearrange my schedule and tried to find someone to cover my time with my Mom but we had no luck. This was one show we didn’t want to miss and are sad to not be there and watch these guys Rock the Roof off the Roxy.  This will be the first night [Read More]
