Matt Nathanson rings the “Mission Bells” with his new song

March 11, 2013

How about a sneak peek at what our local star, Matt Nathanson has in store for us on his new album? Matt has been feverishly working on his new album which will be out this summer. I can’t wait for them to do some shows and hit the road. I have been getting my MATT withdrawals and they aren’t pretty, believe me! I need to get to one of his shows soon to keep my sanity at a a bare minimum. Today Matt debuted his lyric video for his new song, “Mission Bells”. I love this video since so many places are so familiar and to see Matt having fun in the studio is another bonus.  This song also has one of my favorite lyric lines… “”I’m the end of the Hitchcock Movie, A little dark and a lot Confusing”… I LOVE THAT!! Matt does it again with his catchy lyrics and smooth vocals. Also Matt will be at SXSW 2013 and you can catch the dates on his website. So now go enjoy the new [Read More]

While She Waits heals with their song “Face Behind the Gates”

March 11, 2013

Music. Music is so many things to me. Music inspires me. Music energizes me. Music heals me. Music touches me. So many times in my life, whether they were good or bad, I can always remember that Music was right there to be part of it and to be my cheering section or my support team. My true friend has always been Music. I am so grateful to have Music in my life. Today I wanted to share with you a special time in my life and how music again, is there for me. I had the opportunity to listen to a new song by one of my favorite new bands, “While She Waits“. The song is “Face Behind the Gates”. I listened to it and was truly mesmerized by it. It brought me to a special place and to remember a special person. It was even more eerie because after I listened to it, I reread the post about the song and how it was written by the singer James Ryan Cole and was [Read More]

While She Waits inks a deal with TMG Records for their new album

March 6, 2013

While She Waits joins the TMG Records family. It has only been a couple months since I first introduced you to the awesome new rock band, While She Waits  from Phoenix, Arizona. In that short amount of time, so many great things have been happening for them. They just recently announced inking a record deal with TMG Records.  Their new album is planned to hit major music retails such as Walmart, Best Buy, etc by the end of this year. Luke Johns, TMG Records A&R representative, explains what caught their ear about the band,  “What stands out to us about WHILE SHE WAITS is their great alternative and classic rock sound, but more than anything, we love their energy. We get hundreds of submissions every week from bands wanting us to check them out, but what’s really unique about WHILE SHE WAITS, beyond what we normally hear and even beyond what’s popular right in hard rock right now, is that their music hits hard and never stops. The music is intelligent, well written and really [Read More]

Get to know Justin Emord of Love and a .38

March 5, 2013

I have been enjoying the new song “Just a Woman” by one of my favorite bands, Love and a .38. I know I have told you about them several times before (featured as one of our 12 Days of Rock Christmas) and I hope by now, you all have added their music to your playlists especially “Rock ‘n Lola” and “Lovely Lies”. These rockers are some of the hardest working guys in the business that are on a mission to deliver that much needed rock sound that we have all been missing and craving! They are not only working on their new album, but have been kicking ass performing shows in LA as well as heading out to SXSW later this week. Before they head out to their next show, we were able to catch up with their incredibly talented, high energy bassist Justin Emord. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Music Junkie Press: Thanks Justin for taking time out with us at Music Junkie Press. Get Ready…. Sunset Riot is coming to ROCK the USA

March 1, 2013

Rocklahoma 2013 Band Feature The next band I am featuring from the Rocklahoma 2013 lineup is a band that my son Rockin Ryan told me about, sort of. He was actually keeping this band a secret for a while teasing me with the incredible rock sound that they bring. I would hear bits of songs that he would be playing in the garage and would have to ask over and over who they were. They just reminded me of my fun times on the Sunset Strip in the 80’s and I wanted to know if they were a new or an old band that I had missed. Then it happened, he left his headphones down for a second and I grabbed them and savored what I was hearing. It was truly like ear porn! I was in heaven as I could hear classic 80’s style shredding riffs, catchy melody and the vocals… let me tell you about the vocals. I swear it was like hearing a young crisp David Lee Roth. I looked down at [Read More]

Make Nasty Habit your new habit!

February 25, 2013

Rocklahoma 2013 Band Feature I have a great new Nasty Habit for you and it will ROCK your World! I am talking about four young guys from New York who are on a mission to bring back Rock and Roll. With their Rock and Roll passion prevalent throughout their rockin songs like “Heart Breakin, Hip Shakin”, “Saturday Night”, and ‘Tripped” it is no wonder they are a part of Rocklahoma 2013!  Nasty Habit has Tommy Ende on lead vocals, Kenny Ende on guitar, David Jordan on drums, and Frankie Wheeler on bass. When I hear a band like Nasty Habit, I completely renew my faith in the younger generation to keep true rock and roll alive. Nasty Habit will make sure that Rock and Roll is here to stay! They have my favorite sounds from the ’80s which I love. They kind of remind me of a mix of White Lion/Poison and with the groove of Bullet Boys! These guys are going to blow your mind away as you take a listen and think you are [Read More]

Love and a .38 delivers new music with “Just a Woman”

February 20, 2013

Well they did it again! One of my favorite bands, Love and a .38 released their new song via a free download and it blows my mind again. They really seem to deliver just what I am missing these days. Their new song “Just a Woman” has such a bluesy classic rock sound to it and I just fell in love with it instantly. It has a great chorus that makes me want to cruise out on the open highway with no worries and my Love and a .38 turned up loud! They are playing this Thursday, 21st at the Roxy in Hollywood. You can still get tickets here at TicketWeb.  It is a show that we are so sad to miss! We tried to rearrange my schedule and tried to find someone to cover my time with my Mom but we had no luck. This was one show we didn’t want to miss and are sad to not be there and watch these guys Rock the Roof off the Roxy.  This will be the first night [Read More]
