Today our BottleRock Napa Featured Artist Royel Otis releases debut album

February 16, 2024

Today for our BottleRock Napa featured artist, we bring to you Royel Otis. This Australian guitar-pop duo from Sydney took us by storm last year when we first heard their track Sofa King. We loved their sound and were instantly hooked, impatiently waiting for them to come to the Bay Area.  We were so excited to see that they will be performing at BottleRock Napa 2024! Today, Royel Otis released their debut album Pratts & Pain. About the album, The album is named after our favourite pub in Streatham that we would go to when we were recording with Dan Carey. Dan would ask us to record vocals, and we’d say, ‘Just give us half an hour, we’re popping to Pratts & Payne’, and we’d have a pint, a few shots, and get some lyrics down. One of our favourites from the album is Foam, an ode to all those who need their mouths washed out with soap. It’s ok if you don’t understand some things just don’t look back in anger. J.M. Clifford releases touching new single, Raised in the Ashes

February 16, 2024

Brooklyn-based artist and educator J.M. Clifford has released his new single, “Raised In The Ashes,” via Brooklyn Basement Records. Clifford comments on the touching new track, “One of the joys of writing songs and making records is the fact that, at the end of the process, you’re left with this auditory journal that shows you what was going through your mind when those tunes came along. A theme that I address in this collection of songs is my evolving sense of spirituality and the conviction that we have a soul. I wasn’t raised in a particular faith tradition but I’ve spent plenty of time trying to orient myself and develop some understanding of what we’re all doing here and what the point of all of this is,” he adds. “This tune is one of those markers for me.” “Raised In The Ashes” was produced by platinum recording artist Ron Pope and features contributions from Robby Hecht (backing vocals) and Mountain Heart’s Seth Taylor on banjo and acoustic guitar. Hey Violet releases angsty new track, Uncomplicated for Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2024

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than cranking up the new track Uncomplicated from Hey Violet. The band released the angsty new track today. Rena Lovelis comments about the new song, “This song was a way to call out my own distorted thinking in relationships… a sort of reckoning for what I chase and why I chase it. I remember when I was 16 years old and I was dating someone who was just a total sweetheart, and I was bored out of my mind. It really had nothing to do with that person; it was the volatility that Nia and I grew up witnessing that then transgressed into my relationships later on.”   “Uncomplicated was initially written by us, our friend Robbie Hiser, and an artist friend for their project, but we ended up loving the song and asked if we could have it for this album. The lyrics really feel like a harsh spotlight on my thinking and we thought it was an important part of the album as a whole. It [Read More]

February 13, 2024

Breakout artist Lizzy McAlpine, will be releasing her new album, Older on April 5th via RCA Records. You can pre-order/pre-save the album HERE. Lizzy comments about the album, “To me, this album represents who I’ve become over the past three years. Through the long and mostly tumultuous journey of making it, I have learned who I am as a person, who I want to be as an artist and what kind of art I want to make. This album is a culmination of that growth, showcasing the rawest and most honest version of me.” Recorded and produced in Los Angeles by Lizzy and Mason Stoops (Ryan Beatty, Del Water Gap) with additional production by Ryan Lerman of Scary Pockets, Jeremy Most (Emily King, Norah Jones) and Tony Berg (Taylor Swift, Boygenius), Older finds the 24-year-old rising star stepping into newfound confidence, discovering her voice and defining her artistry with profound simplicity. It’s a notable departure for Lizzy, who wrote the LP’s deeply personal 14 tracks during a three-year period of transition into adulthood. “The music that I’ve released up to this point in my [Read More]

Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts release rockin new single

January 25, 2024

Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts are sure to capture your attention with the release of their latest single, Take The Long Way. Check out the news below: “Take the Long Way” is a spirited sing-along rock anthem. It draws inspiration from Smith’s turbulent experience of not only being kicked off the 2021 Motley Crue Stadium tour, but also being dropped from both his label and booking agent amid the COVID era. The track encapsulates the classic self-sabotage meets redemption tale. In true Tuk Smith style, you’re hooked from the first riff. However, “Take the Long Way” is a different beast compared to previous songs; while there are plenty of killer tunes in the back catalogue, this new track exudes a different kind of freshness and eagerness to please. Comparisons to Springsteen and Petty are inevitable when listening to Tuk Smith, but he undoubtedly possesses a toe-tapping quality unlike any other. With this track pumping, you can easily envision yourself in a Dodge Ram, tapping your hands on the steering wheel while driving down the highway and just as easily envision yourself in a suit, humming along while entering an office on the 75th floor. That’s the allure of Tuk; [Read More]
