The Linda Lindas share cover of The Go-Go’s “Tonite”

July 27, 2022

In 2021 the video of an unknown young punk band from Los Angeles went viral. It was the start of a new generation of punk bands. In the months after that, the band released  “Oh!“, “Talking To Myself” and “Growing Up“. Today The Linda Lindas shared a cover of The Go-Go’s classic “Tonite”. On the cover the band says: “The Linda Lindas started out as a cover band, and we’ve played more songs by The Go-Go’s than anyone else. And even after we started to write our own songs, we never stopped playing ‘Tonite.’ We love the idea of us going out and owning our town, and ‘Tonite’ is as fun to play as it is empowering––especially the part where we all sing together. ‘We rule the streets tonite until the morning light’ and so should our fans. Because the cover is such a hit at shows, we decided to record a studio version to pay tribute to the greatest all-female rock band of all time, a crucial part of the L.A. punk scene, and [Read More]

Ithaca release new single “The Future Says Thank You”

July 23, 2022

Acclaimed UK metallic hardcore troupe Ithaca have streamed their huge new single ‘The Future Says Thank You’, the final glimpse of their long-awaited second album, They Fear Us, due 29th July via Hassle Records. Ithaca comment: ‘This song is about putting yourself first and moving on from a deeply toxic environment. It’s the most technically difficult song we’ve ever written- the constant changes and relentless pace are designed to make you feel trapped right up until the ending where hope breaks through. There is light at the end of where you find yourself.’ Ithaca are one of the most exciting and vital voices in the UK heavy scene currently. Formed out of a mutual love of metallic hardcore but despair at its lack of ambition, Ithaca exist to challenge everything you thought a band that makes heavy music should look and sound like. A glitter-covered nailbomb, Ithaca seamlessly blend the brutality of Relapse Records metalcore with blackgaze, 90s industrial metal, 70s prog and even tinges of 80s power pop. Their influences stretch beyond the musical [Read More]

Thornhill release new single & video “Raw”

May 23, 2022

Peeling back yet another layer of their impending sophomore album “Heroine” due out on June 3, the brand new single “Raw” from Melbourne rockers Thornhill oozes with blistering charm and towering soundscapes. Driven by odes to classic Hollywood and cinematic scores, Heroine expands upon sonic elements explored on Thornhill’s 2019 debut album “The Dark Pool“, with the group’s latest track “Raw” immersing into sharp alternative and rock flavours, complete with razor-sharp riffs, snarling basslines and pummeling beats. Flitting between grit and billowing ambience, “Raw” also ultimately allows its overarching narrative to take the reins, as vocalist Jacob Charlton explains: “The story of the song Raw follows an actress’s responses to various requests, love letters and desperate attempts made by fans and stalkers after her first major success, appearing in a soon to be cult classic film. This song primarily focuses on character of the voice rather than complex melodies and harmonies so I really wanted to bring a story to life that matches the attitude of the instruments. The way that she fights back these [Read More]

Palaye Royale unveil new song “Broken”

May 23, 2022

Art-rock trio Palaye Royale release their new song “Broken” today via Sumerian Records. Produced by Grammy-nominated Chris Greatti (who recently worked with Machine Gun Kelly and Yungblud), the song delves into the complexities of a doomed and toxic romance, oscillating between an explosive chorus and achingly vulnerable verses. The accompanying video, directed by Eva Dolezalova, was filmed in a 12th-century monastery in Prague. “In moments of darkness, it is crucial to find the light and grow into something even more beautiful”, explains lead singer Remington Leith. “Being broken means you have the opportunity to piece yourself back into an even better version”. The video brings this concept to life, with the visual symbolism of a burning rose representing the rejection of tainted love, followed by redemption, metamorphosis, and rebirth. Palaye Royale is comprised of Las Vegas-bred brothers Remington Leith (vocals), Sebastian Danzig (guitar), and Emerson Barrett (drums). The release of “Broken” comes on the heels of their completely sold-out headline tour across Europe, which saw the band bring their rock-n-roll circus to some of their [Read More]

An album that the band, looking back, sees as a sign of their collective mourning: “We were sad when we wrote it. Now that we’re a few years apart, it’s very clear what we went through. We were in a [Read More]
