Architects – FTTWTE tour finally hits Germany

January 13, 2023

Originally, the “For Those That Wish To Exist” was supposed to hit German stages last year. Unfortunately, the band had to postpone the tour. Almost a year later and also one album later, the band finally made it. I was able to catch the band live in Munich and believe me, they made the wait worthwhile. But first off let’s talk about the bands that opened the night. Show start was supposed to be 7 pm. At 6.50 pm the first opener got on stage a little bit ahead of the schedule. Maybe not the best idea, because the first bands of the night always have to fight with the venue not being very crowded, let alone when the show starts earlier than announced. I don’t really get, why people don’t take the chance to check out opening acts, esp. this one – Sleep Token. The band is from London. Their set is probably best described as dark and gloomy, which totally fits the sound. They were not unknown to parts of the audience and [Read More]

Concert review: The Amity Affliction with Northlane, Stray From The Path and Wage War by Alex Bock

December 19, 2016

Munich, Backstage Werk, Dec. 16th, 2016 This show closed my concert year 2016 and I have to say, it ended with a blast. A few days before, the show was sold out and the place was really packed, from the beginning. The crowd was obviously into all the bands, although all three opening bands had some sound problems in the beginning. Nevertheless the audience seemingly loved their performances, considering all the crowd-surfers, mosh-pits and circle-pits that happened during their sets. Wage War Stray From the Path Northlane The Amity Affliction were loudly welcomed by the crowd. The audience sang along to every song, knew all the lyrics by heart.  Almost constantly the security guys had to catch crowd-surfers and see to it, that they got out of the pit quickly, so no one gets hurt. The songs they played were mainly taken from their last two records ‘This Could Be Heartbreak’ and ‘Let The Ocean Take Me’. Wise choice probably, because those records really let the band grow over the last years. Set-list: I [Read More]

Northlane tearing the Backstage down along with The Acacia Strain and Hellions

October 20, 2015

Munich, October 17th, 2015   Last weekend Northlane made a stop in Munich during their European Tour with Volumes, The Acacia Strain and Hellions. Volumes had to cancel their set that night due to medical issues. The night started off with the Sydney based band Hellions, followed by The Acacia Strain, a band from Boston, MA. When the headliner Northlane entered the stage, the room was already heated like a sauna. Throughout all three sets there was a constant coming and going on stage. Almost permanently fans were trying to enter the stage, dancing and rocking along with the band, some even taking selfies on stage, just to jump back into the crowd. The audience was really rocking hard to the heavy sound of all three bands, simply enjoying life. From a photographers point of view catastrophic, with so many people kicking around while struggling to get on stage, just to jump down a few moments later. The humidity in the room was so high, that I had to clean the fog from my lense [Read More]
