Hey Violet releases angsty new track, Uncomplicated for Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2024

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than cranking up the new track Uncomplicated from Hey Violet. The band released the angsty new track today. Rena Lovelis comments about the new song, “This song was a way to call out my own distorted thinking in relationships… a sort of reckoning for what I chase and why I chase it. I remember when I was 16 years old and I was dating someone who was just a total sweetheart, and I was bored out of my mind. It really had nothing to do with that person; it was the volatility that Nia and I grew up witnessing that then transgressed into my relationships later on.”   “Uncomplicated was initially written by us, our friend Robbie Hiser, and an artist friend for their project, but we ended up loving the song and asked if we could have it for this album. The lyrics really feel like a harsh spotlight on my thinking and we thought it was an important part of the album as a whole. It [Read More]

Indie Soul Pop Artist Selfdrou9ht releases new single and visualizer

October 23, 2020

Indie R&B/soul pop artist, Selfdrou9ht announces his new single and accompanying visualizar, “The Comedown.” Central songwriter James Fasulo states, “This is a song about being a placeholder for someone who needs their emotional needs met, and the feeling one has when looking at the situation retrospectively as you’re left behind when you are no longer useful to them.  This is an unfortunately universal experience these days: going from wishing you could have been kept to realizing the user is the one who is losing out. This  realization  is what sets the song tonally;  it’s about self-ownership and restoration of value. The song has tinges of 80’s synth pop with Human League style melody changes, but littered through out are moments reminiscent of *NSYNC, The Weeknd, bedroom pop, and EDM.” Watch the video     About the artist After 10 years of paying dues in the alternative rock/punk scenes and 16 years performing in musical theater, Fasulo finally felt the pull to create something new by himself. He has always felt a disconnect between his artistic self and [Read More]

January 9, 2020

Los Angeles dream pop shoegaze duo The Know have released a new video that is sure to grab your attention. The video is for their new song, Hold Me Like You Know Me.  “The stunning visuals portray the feeling of loneliness and isolation through dancer and influencer Lexee Smith’s movements in a room full of people.” The song is a personal one and Jennifer shares, “This is a very personal song. It describes a feeling of intense loneliness and isolation which I’ve dealt with a lot this past year. Wanting to be seen, felt, loved and adored. Although it’s written from a romantic perspective, I think this feeling is also true of friendships, family, etc. Especially in this modern day and age, where everyone is so detached and in their own worlds, it’s hard to feel connected on any kind of genuine level. You can be in a room full of people and still feel lonely”.  The song not only captivates the listener with vulnerability and sheer honesty, the video features Lexee Smith as she translates the [Read More]
