Take a listen and be held captive by pop punk sensation Kate Nash

February 19, 2014

Allow me to introduce to you the amazing pop punk sensation, Kate Nash. She is incredible and has a voice that can get inside your head, inspire and empower, open your heart and soothe your soul. Kate has released her third album, Girl Talk was written on the bass guitar, lending Kate’s new sound – a more raw punk feel, she says, ‘It’s definitely a pop record, but has a new sound and feel to it. I played bass in a punk band called The Receeders for a couple of years and I love how powerful playing bass and using my voice like that made me feel. Girl Talk is full of colour, pop harmonies and melodies, and I feel like my voice has matured and that I can do more with it. Music is my escapism and vice, and my life is in every song. I’m happy to share the next chapter.’ Kate has recently released her video for “Sister”, her single which is off of Girl Talk. You are going to love it. Tomorrows brings to life alternative rock

January 18, 2014

There is a great Alternative Rock band that you have to check out. They are called Tomorrows and is the work of brothers Jack and Jim Ivans. Their live musicians are Cullen MacDonald on Guitars and James Tan on Bass.  I love my alternative rock and San Francisco in the ’90s seemed to give me an abundance of alternative bands to listen too, that just isn’t so true these days. But now with the find of Tomorrows I can revive my love for alternative rock! Tomorrows is from New York City and this year, you will definitely be hearing a lot more from them. They bring to life pop/rock with an alternative edge. Their songs have emotionally driven lyrics and melodies that just grab a hold of you. They are releasing a full length album, The Code Duello which will be out later this year. I recently have fallen in love with their first single of their upcoming album, “Heartbreakers“. Check it out here:   “Heartbreakers” has some fierce guitars, catchy chorus/hook and lyrically tells a great story.Their [Read More]

Thirsty Thursday spotlight is White Chocolate Thunder from Canada

November 28, 2013

Here we are on another Thursday which means our weekly spotlight on a new band that is thirsty for rock n roll! This week the band is White Chocolate Thunder and they are from Calgary, Alberta Canada. They are four guys who have a great rock/pop/punk feel to them. I hate placing them in a genre or category… so put it this way…. they fucking rock and have great energy and good songs! You have Johnny Molyneaux on Vocals and he reminds me of a young Chris Robinson of Black Crowes. His vocals are awesome. Then you have the fierce Jordan Tavares on Guitar and the energetic Braaeden Riehl on  Bass. Behind it all and bringing it home with solid drumming is Tanner Statham. Check them out in their video for a KICK ASS song, “No Regrets“:   “No Regrets” is off of their new EP, No Pants, Just Dance. which is available at their shows. So if you enjoy your rock with a side of punk attitude you will like White Chocolate Thunder! Fearless Vampire Killers and their first US show ever!

November 7, 2013

Last night was the first night of William Control’s “Revel Without a Cause” Tour. Their first show was held upstairs at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco. Opening for William Control, was British theatrical Alternative Rock band Fearless Vampire Killers, and it was my first time seeing them. They were amazing. This was their first show ever in the United States and they really won over the crowd instantly. Fearless Vampire Killers are Kier Kemp and Laurence Beveridge (co-vocalists), Cyrus Barrone (guitar), Drew Woolnough (bass) and Luke Illingworth (drums). Playing upstairs at the DNA lounge, always provides quite a bit of challenges for the band with space and sound, not to mention being the first night of their tour. So usually the first night is when you iron all the kinks out.  But that didn’t matter to these five guys. They came out and performed with fierce intensity and their songs pumped the crowd right up.  You can describe their look as a blend of steam punk with gothic and horror punk, whatever you call it, they [Read More]
