VIDEO SPOTLIGHT: The Know captivates with their ethereal and striking new video

January 9, 2020

Los Angeles dream pop shoegaze duo The Know have released a new video that is sure to grab your attention. The video is for their new song, Hold Me Like You Know Me.  “The stunning visuals portray the feeling of loneliness and isolation through dancer and influencer Lexee Smith’s movements in a room full of people.” The song is a personal one and Jennifer shares, “This is a very personal song. It describes a feeling of intense loneliness and isolation which I’ve dealt with a lot this past year. Wanting to be seen, felt, loved and adored. Although it’s written from a romantic perspective, I think this feeling is also true of friendships, family, etc. Especially in this modern day and age, where everyone is so detached and in their own worlds, it’s hard to feel connected on any kind of genuine level. You can be in a room full of people and still feel lonely”.  The song not only captivates the listener with vulnerability and sheer honesty, the video features Lexee Smith as she translates the [Read More]

Blur set to re-issue their debut album, Leisure on it’s 25th anniversary!

July 27, 2016

When I play my old Blur CDs, I am instantly transported back to San Francisco in the 90’s. Great music donned the venues and there was an abundance of bands coming from the UK and feeding us with their fresh new alternative music. One of those bands that I instantly fell in love with was Blur. Their debut album, Leisure endured endless plays on my stereo as the alternative and shoegaze era captured my attention and is still deep in my heart. We are pleased to share the news that Blur plans to re-issue the Leisure album on colored vinyl through Parlophone. The album will be released on August 26th, the 25th anniversary of it’s initial release date in 1991.  You can pre-order the album by heading over to their webstore: http://shop.blur.co.uk/eu/leisure.html?sfgnbdghnd. Check out Slack Armada for some mystical instrumental music!

November 22, 2013

Chicago solo artist Slack Armada releases his new EP of mystical instrumental music reminiscent of early shoegaze electronica. James Hrabak is the founder and creator of Slack Armada and did not only all the instruments but all the production of recording, mixing and mastering on this four song self titled EP. James literally brings the music to life without vocals and tells stories with each songs that float through your mind. James explains more about not using vocals, “The absence of vocals wasn’t a conscious decision at the beginning, As I was building up the tracks, I thought ‘Maybe I can make the music speak to somebody without the additional guide of a human voice.’ I wanted to let the listener be transported with fewer guideposts.”  Well he truly succeeded in that manner and it is quite a journey that he takes you on. The songs literally have depth and texture to them that you can almost feel as you listen. James lists some of his influences as Four Tet, My Bloody Valentine, Mogwai and Boards [Read More]
