VIDEO: Check out the powerful new music video from Tigers Jaw for “Escape Plan”

August 24, 2017

Tigers Jaw have just released a powerful music video for their track Escape Plan. Ben Walsh comments about the song, “’Escape Plan’ is a song about feeling stuck in your old ways, and trying to find the courage to make changes to your life. Earlier this year, when Josh Coll (director) and I were first talking about video concept ideas, I had to cancel a few calls because my grandfather passed away. That got him thinking about conversations he had with his grandfather before he passed. He remembered talking about technology and how our generation relies on it so much. The video focuses on the juxtaposition between these beautiful cinematic ‘real life’ scenes and the stark, sterile, inferior virtual reality that the characters seem to want to escape to. Hopefully it’s a reminder that the real world is beautiful and we should look up from our phones more often.” The video, which was directed by Foxing’s Josh Coll along with John Komar, is a tragic portrayal of individuals relying on digital avatars to live their [Read More]

GARBAGE out on tour with Blondie, shares music video for new single, “No Horses”

August 3, 2017

GARBAGE SHARES MUSIC VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “NO HORSES”. Garbage today shared a music video for their new single “No Horses”. Directed by Pancake Mountain creator Scott Stuckey, “No Horses” was released last month and is available now HERE. All of the band’s profits from sales and streaming of the single will be donated to the International Committee of the Red Cross through the end of 2018. Watch the video below: Scott Stuckey comments on the video’s inspiration, “It’s been my observation that when governments disregard their citizens for their own greed, the ensuing soundtrack usually kick’s ass. Like Nina Simone’s ‘Mississippi Goddam’ or the Clash’s ‘Straight To Hell’, ‘No Horses’ made me realize that I’m not going insane, these really are fucked up times. The lyrics are powerful so the challenge was to add something visually that wouldn’t ruin the individual’s interpretation.” Garbage kicked off their co-headline “Rage & Rapture Tour” with Blondie on July 5th in Saratoga, CA and will be touring the U.S. for the duration of the summer. Both bands along with an opening [Read More]

VIDEO: Mona Borland featuring melodic metalcore infused with grungy metal vibes

August 3, 2017

Get ready for your order! Here you go: Mona Borland is serving up some infectious melodic metalcore with a side of grunge metal making a perfect dish. Dallas based Mona Borland wanted to create something a little different and they definitely have satisfied us with their music! A little more about Mona Borland: A 4-piece outfit, their sound is best summarized as a cohesive blend of grungy alt-rock and melodic metalcore with powerful choruses. In less than a year, the band has quickly become a prominent name in the DFW metal scene, sparking a buzz with their 1st self-released EP, “Sad Sounds from Space”.           On paper, something like this—djenty space/post-rock-influenced post-mathcore—not only makes me look like I’m a genre whore, but it also doesn’t sound like something that’d be very good in execution. It’s tough to write hybridized metal, in my opinion; there’s very little room for success because you need to make the genres nearly seamless. Yet, Mona Borland manages to do this, and as far as I know, Sad Sounds From Space [Read More]

August 3, 2017

As the music scene continues to tear down the genre walls, great bands have come forward with their own blend of music. When bands fuse their musical influences, the outcome is welcoming. Discrepancies is one of those bands to check out as they deliver rap rock, rapcore, NuMetal. Whatever you want to call it is fine with us, as long as you check them out! They have released a music video for their track, Art of War. Vocalist ATG comments about the track, “‘Art of War’ is metaphor comparing love and war. It’s a story of betrayal. Being in a relationship is a war that you and your significant other fight together side by side as soldiers. Inevitably, an obstacle is thrown at you, leaving you injured. Your partner can either stick it out with you or leave you behind. In the absolute worst case, your partner joins the other side. This song is my interpretation of your soldier joining the other side.”  The track is off their 2016 debut album The Awakening. The video [Read More]
