Wayland Rocks the Dean NAMM Jam 2013

Wayland The annual Dean NAMM Jam was held on Friday, January 25th at The Grove in Anaheim. It was quite an awesome night with Shinedown headlining the show. What was great as well, is one of my favorite bands that I told you about last year, Wayland was also performing. Here is the link to my previous post on the great music of Wayland. Wayland came out and rocked the show. These guys just have incredible energy and I love their music! Tony Harnell, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal and Cassandra Soto; the highlight of NAMM 2013!

My week at NAMM provided me with my much needed fix of music gear, great concerts, catching up with old friends and making new ones. I must tell you that my highlight of NAMM was not meeting a certain musician even though all that I met were truly wonderful in many ways. It was not about catching a concert and discovering a new band, even though I did get a chance to do just that and will tell you all about that in a future post. It was not about the parties or the dinners, those were incredible as well. My highlight was just at the tail end of NAMM. Only an hour before the entire show closes, did my highlight come. LUCE and Tender Mercies join the fight against cancer!

I am back in the Bay Area after a long week at my favorite convention, NAMM. Now that I am back I wanted to let you all know about an upcoming local event featuring two incredible bands that are helping in the fight against cancer. Notes4Notes.org has organized a special event featuring two amazing local bands, Luce and Tender Mercies for a benefit concert being held at the historic Town Hall Theatre in Lafayette, California. Save the date of Thursday, February 21st with doors opening at 6:30 pm and concert starting at 7:30. There are a limited number of tickets available and I encourage you to get your tickets early. Start your love affair with Angels Fall

Angels Fall One of my favorite things about working in the music industry is when I experience what I call, “5 second-in love affair” with a band. How best to describe this… Well, it is when I get to listen to a new band that I have never heard about before and I play their music and within the first 5 seconds our love affair begins. NAMM METAL JAM 2013 NAMM is only a week away and it is going to be an exciting one this year. One of highlights of this upcoming NAMM week will be the NAMM Metal Jam 2013 which is being held at the legendary Whiskey A-Go-Go on January 23rd. One of my favorite singers has just announced his solo tour to highlight the release of the third edition of his book! Yes, Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October has just announced dates for his solo tour titled, “An Open Book” An Evening with Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October. This coincides with release of the expanded 3rd edition of his book of lyrics and writings dubbed “Crazy Making” due out on April 1, 2013. These shows sound like they are going to be a lot fun and insightful as to the writings of Justin. Included with spoken word by Justin, there will be a Q & A session, and acoustic songs. Sara Skinner rocks you with her angelic voice!

Sara Skinner WOW! Amazing voice that just embraces your soul. Truly the work of an angel. That is how I can describe this next artist. I have to tell you about an unbelievable new artist that I am looking forward to seeing at NAMM at the Lampifier Microphone booth next week. That incredible voice belongs to beautiful and talented, Sara Skinner. I first heard about Sara and was asked to check out one of her cover songs that she does on her Youtube channel. She actually sings live on her videos but also has her original work. I didn’t get the chance to watch the covers, then I got asked to watch her video for her release of her original song, “Break”. After the first second of hearing her voice, I was just captivated. She has such a smooth voice with mysterious edges that just leave you longing for more.
