Marie-Claire Berreen is a majestic beauty wrapped in music

February 12, 2013

Majestic Beauty Wrapped in Music I have a wonderful treat for your ears. It is the majestic beauty wrapped in music by Marie-Claire Berreen. When you think of some of the best female vocalists like Barbra Streisand, Sarah McLaughlin, Tori Amos, and Leigh Nash,  you think of powerful voices that can reach within you and touch you with warmth. That is what I feel when I listen to the classical folk music by Marie-Claire Berreen. Marie-Claire’s voice is like sunshine brightening the sky. you can’t help but feel the warmth from her words and they leave you feeling sun kissed. She has a wonderful CD of her beautiful music titled, “Box and a Ribbon” that will take over all of your senses.  The first song is “Honeypie” and literally is the perfect way to start off the CD. You are warm and open and feel her welcoming embrace. It is like that long lost friend coming to greet you again and feeling like you never left their side. You are treated to so many wonderful [Read More]

Will Turpin and The Way perform a first rate show on Stageit!

February 12, 2013

I had the pleasure of watching my first Stageit concert last week and it was an awesome one. Stageit provides live broadcasts of performers and you get a front row seat right to watch it all without even leaving your house. It was a great experience and even more so since it was Will Turpin and The Way performing the complete song list from The Lighthouse as well as a couple extra surprises.  Will Turpin, known for being the amazing bassist for one of my favorite rock bands, Collective Soul. I have probably seen Collective Soul over 25 times and I look forward to many more shows of theirs in the future. With Will’s solo project, he embarks on a journey of incredible song writing and plays multiple instruments and vocals. His style reminds me of  Ben Folds, Jason Mraz, and Paul Simon. He in no way imitates since his own style is a fusion of all the best and he is truly a talented musician that shines through his music. It is wonderful to [Read More]

From the Fallen delivers pure adrenaline

February 11, 2013

From the Fallen = Pure Adrenaline Get ready for to be infused with energy by this female fronted metal rock band, From the Fallen. From the first time you hear them the adrenaline flows through your veins as you get ready to rock hard and heavy. This four piece band Metal band formed in 2009 and comes from Fresno, California and they are ready to take over and command you listen to them! I just love their energy and high powered rock. From the Fallen is fronted by Amber McConnell and her incredibly powerful vocals, Brandon McConnell yielding some awesome guitars,  Harry Garvin lays down the bass and Christopher Heil delivers heavy hitting precision drums. They are a combination that is fierce in so many ways! Reminding me of Halestorm, Disturbed and Flyleaf. If you are needing some adrenaline in your veins to get you off your feet and ready to rock, then this band is the one to deliver it and they have a  new album that you have to get your hands on! The music of Matthew Stewart heals my soul

February 11, 2013

I know I have been quite busy since coming back from NAMM and working on the Online Magazine, but I also have been quite busy taking care of my 79 year old mother, who has been battling Parkinson’s Disease for the past 15 years. The hardest part has been the last year, since my father passed away from cancer. Watching her includes me staying with her for two to three days a week, all day, and it is exhausting in many ways. She has at times become quite irritated, cranky, and hard to be around. Well, this past weekend was my time to be with my mother from Friday morning until Sunday morning. With Sunday morning being my birthday, I was going to spend the day with my family afterwards. Well, it was anything but peaceful, and unfortunately my time with my Mom was harder than ever, trying to deal with not being able to make her comfortable, to actually try to calm her down from her anger and frustration. It was a brutal 48 [Read More]

February 4, 2013

One of my favorite television talk show host, Chelsea Handler of Chelsea Lately is out on vacation this week. She has none other than my fave Dave Grohl filling in for  her all week as guest host of the show. Dave is going to be hosting the week with music themed guests and I am sure we will be able to hear the latest on his Sound City Players project. Dave recently released his documentary; Sound City: Real to Reel which is about the history of America’s greatest unsung record studio hidden in Los Angeles, Sound City Studios. Dave also has been performing with what he calls “Sound City Players” that is comprised of an all star lineup of musicians which are featured in the film including Rick Springfield, Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty, and many more including Grohl’s Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic and Foo Fighters bandmates Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel and Pat [Read More]
