Get ready for a shot of hard rock with Snakeskyn Whiskey!

March 27, 2013

Do you remember the first time you were at a concert and you were blown away by the opening band? Like seriously just excited to find out more about them and to get hooked on their music? Well that is what it was like for many fans who went out to see CrashDiet at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco this past Monday (March 25, 2013).  Out on tour with CrashDiet and opening up for them that night were the hard rockers from Montreal, Canada, Snakeskyn Whiskey. These four guys deliver in your face aggressive rock and roll with non stop energy.  If you have ever been to the top of the DNA Lounge, you will know what I am talking about when I tell you how they dominated that small stage with their big sound. We had the chance to sit down with  Snakeskyn Whiskey before the show and they told us about how diverse the music scene is in Montreal and how the different genres of music compete for the shows at the music venues. Dave Grohl at SXSW urges you to find your own voice!

March 14, 2013

Dave Grohl inspires at SXSW Dave Grohl delivers an incredibly inspiring Keynote Address at SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas. Dave’s speech is absolutely remarkable to watch. His sense of humor and personality really shines through. If you are a musician, there is no way possible that you can watch this video and not be even more inspired and dedicated to music. His speech goes on to recount his Do-it-Yourself  Recordings when he was just 12 years old and also how Nirvana changed his life and how he dealt with the death of Kurt Cobain.  You really have to watch it for yourself. It possibly can be the best spent 60 minutes you spend to keep your motivation and dedication to music. My favorite quote is when Dave talks about when he first started playing guitar and how it absorbed him. “I devoted every waking hour to playing music. It became my religion,  the record store; my church, the Rock Stars; my saints and their songs; my hymns” Those words there ring true for so many [Read More]

Clive Burr, former drummer of Iron Maiden dies at 56.

March 13, 2013

We lost another great one! The incredible former drummer of Iron Maiden, Clive Burr died yesterday, March 12, 2013 peacefully in his sleep. Clive has been battling Multiple Sclerosis which had left him wheelchair bound and deeply in debt. Iron Maiden even held a few charity concert and created the Clive Burr MS Trust Fund and other charity events titled aptly titled Clive Aid. Clive was the drummer for Iron Maiden from 1979 to 1982 and he played on their first three albums including my personal favorite and breakthrough album, ‘The Number of the Beast”. Clive was a young one at only 56 years old. Clive was known to be someone who didn’t let his illness take over his great personality and optimistic attitude. People said that he was always in a good mood and a great guy on top of being an incredible drummer. The news was shared on the following post from Iron Maiden’s Website: Published: Mar 13, 2013 “We are deeply saddened to report that Clive Burr passed away last night. He had [Read More]

Revolver Golden Gods Awards 2013 Viewing Party Guide

March 13, 2013

Party Planning Guide for Revolver Golden Gods Awards 2013! As you know from my recent post about the Oscars, we don’t throw parties to watch the award shows unless it is the Revolver Golden Gods Awards. Well, with the awards being only 6+ weeks ago, we have to get started in planning your perfect Revolver Golden Gods Awards Viewing Party!  The date for the show is May 2, 2013. 4 to 5 Weeks before your party Make an Invitation List. Here is where you have to really tailor your list to the right audience. When you are drawing up your list of names; ask yourself some questions about the guests so you know you are targeting the right guests. The last thing you want at your party is someone asking over and over is Kanye going to sing?,  or Who is Metallica? or even worse, what is this Revolver thing – thought it was a gun??? Time to show them the door and you may want to rethink them as your friend at that point!! [Read More]

Matt Nathanson rings the “Mission Bells” with his new song

March 11, 2013

How about a sneak peek at what our local star, Matt Nathanson has in store for us on his new album? Matt has been feverishly working on his new album which will be out this summer. I can’t wait for them to do some shows and hit the road. I have been getting my MATT withdrawals and they aren’t pretty, believe me! I need to get to one of his shows soon to keep my sanity at a a bare minimum. Today Matt debuted his lyric video for his new song, “Mission Bells”. I love this video since so many places are so familiar and to see Matt having fun in the studio is another bonus.  This song also has one of my favorite lyric lines… “”I’m the end of the Hitchcock Movie, A little dark and a lot Confusing”… I LOVE THAT!! Matt does it again with his catchy lyrics and smooth vocals. Also Matt will be at SXSW 2013 and you can catch the dates on his website. So now go enjoy the new [Read More]
