The Sorry Lot is our Bottle Rock Napa 2014 Featured Band of the Day

March 26, 2014

Today our Bottle Rock Napa Featured Band is The Sorry Lot. You can’t have a successful festival in Napa without some fun Irish drinking music, can you?  Definitely not! So we are glad to see that The Sorry Lot will be “performing renditions of traditional drinking songs, as well as a few modern ballads and original tunes, while keeping the music true to it’s roots in the pubs and bars of Ireland.” Now this sounds like a lot of rowdy fun that I am going to enjoy! You are treated to a variety of instruments form banjos, mandolin, fiddle, accordion, guitars and so much more. It is a fusion of musical delight in true Irish fashion. The Sorry Lot is a seven piece band from Napa and have played regularly all over the Bay Area at pubs and Breweries. What started as a St. Patrick’s Day side project with members from local bands in 2007 has turned in to a dedicated band who performs year round. They provide the fun music and create an atmosphere [Read More]

Smashing Pumpkins sign deal with BMG and set to release 2 new albums in 2015

March 26, 2014

Smashing Pumpkins announced yesterday via their social networks that they have signed an Artists Services deal with BMG. Smashing Pumpkins will be releasing 2 new albums in 2015: MONUMENTS TO AN ELEGY and DAY FOR NIGHT. The first single is expected to be released by year’s end. Recording sessions have already began and as BILLY CORGAN says, “For those interested in sound, think: ‘guitars, guitars, guitars, and more guitars’ but more so on the epic side of things than say, grossly metallic.”  We can’t wait to see what they have in store for us with these two new albums. Corgan also tells us that,  “Manning the boards will be producer Howard Willing, with whom I first had the pleasure of working with during the Adore sessions. We expect a single out by year’s end.” Smashing Pumpkins were formed back in 1988 and have had quite a successful music career, having sold more than 30 million albums, and won multiple Grammy Awards in the process. If you have never been to a Smashing Pumpkins concert, then you have missed out on some of the best live [Read More]

The Amatory Murder “Exploiting our Dreams” EP awakens your dark side!

March 26, 2014

The Amatory Murder from Brooklyn, New York has been categorized as a Synth or Goth Rock Band. Many years ago, before the many classifications and genre borders, The Amatory Murder would have been just called Alternative or Modern Rock. Correction…. An awesome Alternative/Modern Rock Band. Band Members: Christian Peppas on Vox, Synth, Programming Joey Halimi on Lead Guitar Marios Drakos on Rhythm Guitar Ernest D’Amaso on Bass Guitar, Backing Vox Ben Tourkatonis on Drums The Amatory Murder are set to release their EP Exploiting Our Dreams on March 31st and it will be another must have album.  It starts off with one of my favorite songs off it, A Haunting. It delivers some heavy guitars, powerful vocals and creates an energetic mysterious vibe. Need is up next and it has an addictive tempo with vocals that transition from commanding to melodic. Another highlight of Need is the drums and the electronics which create this ethereal edge to the song.  They have just released a lyric video for A Haunting and you can check it out [Read More]

Pre-Order the new Kyng album and catch them out on tour with Kill Devil Hill and Crobot.

March 25, 2014

Kyng is one band that from the first time I saw them in January 2013 to now, just came out strong and have not stopped since. We first saw them perform at the Dean NAMM Jam in 2013 and they were incredible. I knew right away that this power trio was going to be a band that everyone would soon be talking about. Why? Because these three guys create a powerful dose of true rock and roll. Kyng is  Eddie Veliz pn Vocals/Guitar, Pepe Clarke on Drums, and Tony Castaneda on Bass/Backup Vocals. These three guys mean business when it comes to delivering a kick ass rock concert.  Even Eddie Trunk of That Metal Show mentioned Kyng as a band to check out that he loves during our recent interview here. They have a sound that might have you reminiscent of early Soundgarden or the classic Led Zeppelin and even take it heavy with hints of Black Sabbath. We just saw them for the 5th time on Sunday night at the Ace of Spades [Read More]
