Above and Beyond release spectacular cinematic sci-fi music video for Blue Sky Action

July 31, 2014

Yes, I must confess, I love music videos. I love all kinds, live footage videos, abstract, literal interpretation and most of all, the ones that bring to life the song through a cinematic storyline. A perfect example would be the new video by Above and Beyond featuring Alex Vargas for Blue Sky Action. The video was directed by Ken Clark (who also did the same honors for the band’s “Sticky Fingers” video). The video is a cinematic sci-fi immersion that joins the dots between the apocalyptic desert terrain of Mad Max and the toxic town love story of Wall-E. It is awesome and I think I have already watched it a dozen times! Check it out here: The song will appear on ABOVE & BEYOND’s early 2015 album (title TBA) on Anjunabeats/Ultra Music. This Friday, August 1 ABOVE & BEYOND will perform on Perry’s Stage at Lollapalooza at Grant Park in Chicago. Later in the fall they’ll return for their sold-out headlining show at the famed Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday, October 18, to be [Read More]

Girls and Boys open for Goo Goo Dolls at Sonoma Mountain Village

July 31, 2014

Last night we ventured out to the new music venue at Sonoma Mountain Village for the inaugural concert which featured Goo Goo Dolls. It was an awesome night. Check out coverage of the Goo Goo Dolls here:  Goo Goo Dolls at Sonoma Mountain Village  Let me tell you about the opening band. The Goo Goo Dolls are currently out on tour with Daughtry and the Plain White T’s. This show was off of their regular tour dates and we were unsure if there was going to be an opening band. We were excited when we saw another drum set on the stage giving us the assurance of an opening act. What I really love is seeing a completely new band with out knowing anything about them. I wish more people would get excited about warm up bands. You never know if you are about to find yourself a new favorite band. Well that happened last night for us. The band happened to be a local band from Santa Rosa, Girls & Boys and they blew [Read More]

Goo Goo Dolls set the bar high for the inaugural concert at Sonoma Mountain Village

July 31, 2014

Sonoma Mountain Village kicked off their first outdoor concert tonight and they really set the bar pretty high for other musicians. The Goo Goo Dolls performed and delivered a spectacular concert which will be a hard act for musicians to follow.  First, the new venue is really going to be one of my favorites, boasting free parking, easy access, very well organized and set in a beautiful backdrop of the Sonoma county. It has been a couple years since the last time I saw Goo Goo Dolls perform and they have always been a personal fave of mine. Their latest album Magnetic was released in 2013 and it was awesome to hear them play several songs from their album such as the fan favorite Come To Me and my faves Caught in the Storm and Rebel Beat. John Rzeznik and Robby Takac sounded spot on and delivered an above studio quality set! It was amazing how well it sounded, especially for being an outdoor concert. Kudos to Sonoma Mountain Village for really providing an excellent [Read More]
