Lena Fayre hushes the Hotel Café with an ethereal, mesmerizing performance by Patrick O’Heffernan

August 3, 2014

Wednesday night in Hollywood at the venerable Hotel Café, usually a slow night with no problem getting a table.  Not this Wednesday night.  Tables were gone early and the floor was packed as the warmup act, Justin Furstenfeld, wrapped up. The crowd sang with him and applauded enthusiastically, but they were really waiting for a brunet slip if a young woman with an old/young chiseled face and a sensual voice that perfectly matches her undulating body, Lena Fayre. There is a reason Rolling Stone tapped Fayre as one of the “10 new artists you need to know”  in its February edition.  Although she is only 17,  the maturity of her command of lyrics, sound and audiences is that of a woman with a decade of stardom. That maturity was in full display at the Hotel Café, hushing an adorning audience.  Onstage in a black sleeveless top, open midriff and muted electric blue tufted pants, Fayre’s voice and body writhed and swayed like a demonic serpent pushing the drugs of emotional, ethereal pop. And we happily [Read More]

Jasmine Cain and her band of rebel rockers are bringing rock and roll to the gypsy soul. This high energy rock band features Jasmine Cain as songwriter, lead vocalist and bassist and she is ready to take over the music scene with her powerful vocals and soulful gypsy style. Her name is widely known in the motorcycle culture as her band has headlined Easyrider events for three consecutive years and her long list of festivals performances includes Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Radio Bold Music Festival, Bike Weeks in Daytona, Laconia, Las Vegas and Arizona as well as main act for Full Throttle Saloon (which became a TruTV series). Her bold and powerful vocals have been capturing everyone’s attention and once you take a listen, you will join in and fall in love her. Dubbed newgrass, they have brought an alternative edge to the bluegrass scene and have been energizing crowds across the country with their big harmonies and sweet pickings. It would be too limiting to categorize this band as bluegrass because their modern sound blends in everything form country, alternative, and rock. There is something for everyone to enjoy and connect with. Band Members: Nick Keeling: Vocals/Banjo Julian Abrahams: Vocals/ Guitar Josh Bridges: Vocals/ Bass Paddy Montgomery: Mandolin/Vocals Mustered Courage have recently released their sophomore album, Powerlines and whether you are a bluegrass aficionado or searching for that new music to add to your playlist, this is the album for you. Memory In Plant take you into depths within experimental and electronic psychedelic rock

August 3, 2014

Memory In Plant is a band from Tel Aviv, Israel and they are gearing up for the release of their new EP An Epic Triumph. Their music ranges from eclectic psychedelic rock into alternative waves of experimental and progressive sounds. They have created depth through their song within layers of musical fusion. Imagine if you will, what your mind sounds like as it is cycling through your thoughts, racing around from one subject to the next, still with one common thread trying to hold it together. That is what their music recreates for me and it is quite unique and wildly inviting. Memory In Plant is Yehiel Hamou, Chen Firsel and Imri Cohen. Take a listen to their new song, Shame On Me here: Stay tuned for their new EP which is set for a release this month. Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news. ~ Marisol Information & Links: Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/MemoryInPlant Twitter: https://twitter.com/MemoryInPlant Bandcamp: http://memoryinplant.bandcamp.com/track/shame-on-me

The Bolts Transformation Into Island Apollo at Silverlake Lounge

August 3, 2014

The Bolts Transformation Into Island Apollo at Silverlake Lounge  Orange-County based indie rockers The Bolts made a bold move early last month—they changed their name to Island Apollo. Bolder still, the five-some headed north to hipster haven Silverlake  previewing work through their new material as Island Apollo, taking up residency at the gritty Silverlake Lounge for four Mondays in July. The band—comprised of guitarists Heath Farmer and Ryan Kilpatrick, bassist Addam Farmer, keyboardist Austin Farmer, and drummer Matt Champagne—gained considerable fame as The Bolts after forming as teenagers in Orange County.  In short order, they picked up airplay on KROQ, won Orange County’s “Best Pop Artist” from the OC Music Awards, opened for Capital Cities and Third Eye Blind, appeared across local TV and, realizing every young man’s dream, had a song placed in a commercial featuring supermodel Kate Upton. At Silverlake Lounge, the group took the stage as relative newcomers. From the first show through the last, Island Apollo was not what you’d call tentative.  Despite the new name (coined for the artificial islands [Read More]
