Catch KOLARS at Sweetwater Music Hall this Saturday, July 30th for a night of mesmerizing music!

July 27, 2016

KOLARS will be making a stop in Mill Valley this Saturday at the Sweetwater Music Hall. They are currently out on their National Tour with Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds and it promises to be an entertaining night of music. KOLARS craft a full sound through minimal instrumentation: guitar and a tap-dancing drummer. As Rob Kolar sings and strums his rollicking guitar, Lauren Brown uses her whole body as a percussive instrument, tapping out the hi-hat rhythm with her feet atop a bass drum while simultaneously playing a stand-up kit, using dance to transform rhythms into natural extensions of her movement. It’s quite the workout and undeniably mesmerizing to watch. Rob Kolar comments, “We wanted to create dance music that combines all the genres of music we love, but with our own original twist,” says Kolar. “It’s that idea of taking a pop song and getting people to move to it. To listen but also feel it in their bones.” Check out their video for their track, Beyond the World of Man The show is on July 30th, with doors [Read More]

Blur set to re-issue their debut album, Leisure on it’s 25th anniversary!

July 27, 2016

When I play my old Blur CDs, I am instantly transported back to San Francisco in the 90’s. Great music donned the venues and there was an abundance of bands coming from the UK and feeding us with their fresh new alternative music. One of those bands that I instantly fell in love with was Blur. Their debut album, Leisure endured endless plays on my stereo as the alternative and shoegaze era captured my attention and is still deep in my heart. We are pleased to share the news that Blur plans to re-issue the Leisure album on colored vinyl through Parlophone. The album will be released on August 26th, the 25th anniversary of it’s initial release date in 1991.  You can pre-order the album by heading over to their webstore: http://shop.blur.co.uk/eu/leisure.html?sfgnbdghnd. Check out some of my favorite tracks of the album: Get your pre-order in and make sure to check out their social media sites. ~ Marisol Information & Links: Website: http://www.blur.co.uk/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/blur/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/blurofficial Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/blurofficial/

This Friday, July 29th you can catch the entertaining acoustic duo of Gutter Swan as they will be performing at The Lost Church in San Francisco. They will be playing with Colonels of Truth. You can pick up tickets by heading over to: http://www.ticketfly.com/event/1211101-colonels-truth-gutter-swan-san-francisco/ The venue is a musical gem at 65 Capp Street in the Mission district. The venue itself, has such a rich history as it was built in 1979 by th late David Ireland, renowned San Francisco sculptor.  As his first architectural piece,  the original 1904 single story structure was transformed into his minimalist approach to maximum light and irregular angular structure. Brett and Elizabeth Cline acquired the place in 1997 and has since grown to be an intimate venue catering to grown ups who support the underground arts scene, as the Clines describe, “greenhouse for the arts”. It is the perfect setting to capture the music of Gutter Swan as the acoustic duo brings emotions to life with their performances. We recently were introduced to their music when they performed at the Poster Room in [Read More]
