Sick Puppies new CD, “Connect” is out!

July 19, 2013

Earlier this week, the new album by Sick Puppies, “Connect” came out. I have been a long time fan of these Australilan rockers and they never cease to amaze me. For them I have my new saying, ” I love you more than your last album but less than your next album”.  I can’t imagine ever loving them any more than I do and then… BAM… their new music just has me loving them even more. I just had the opportunity to listen to the whole “Connect” album and I am just in awe of this new phase of Sick Puppies!  I love when a band explores their adventurous side and steps outside their comfort zone and displays a new side to themselves. That is what I feel they have down with this CD. From the moment I first heard their new single, “There’s No Going Back” and it instantly became my favorite song. I just the chorus, the energy, the lyrics, everything!! As soon as I hear it come on the radio, I am [Read More]

Brian Dugan announces his departure from Candlelight Red

July 16, 2013

Earlier today, Brian Dugan, drummer for Candlelight Red announced his departure from Candlelight Red. He posted the following on Facebook today. “Well another tour down and in the books. Unfortunately it will be my last playing the drums for Candlelight Red. Due to a busy tour schedule, which is good for the band, and family obligations at home,I felt it to be the time to step aside. In this business it is difficult at best to find a balance between both. This band is off to great things and I would never want to hinder its progress. To all the friends and fans I have met….thank you! This has been one of the best experiences of my life and one for which I am truly blessed. It saddens me to leave but at this stage is an unfortunate necessity. I will always be a fan of this band which has taught me so much about music and myself. To them I say thank you and to all my friends I say the same. Who knows [Read More]

Interview with Modern Day Renaissance Man… JINXX of Black Veil Brides

July 12, 2013

For years, the Baroque period of music has influenced many rock musicians as they brought out intense emotions through their music. During the ’80s, several rock acts also brought forth their ability to play classical music into their own style.  From Richie Blackmore to Yngwie Malmsteen they brought a new life to rock.  Some heavy metal musicians would take inspiration of the loud, dramatic tones that would come from Bach, Vivaldi, Beethoven and Paganini. Today you even have sub genres of music that completely encompass these sounds, ranging from symphonic rock, baroque pop, rock opera, etc.  What I truly enjoy is when a rock/metal band infuses their own sound with these classical influences without overpowering or completely altering their sound. For me, one of the most successful bands that has achieved this today is Black Veil Brides. Not only do they deliver incredible music that is filled with emotionally driven lyrics, but has classical compositions interwoven through their songs.  Their most recent album, Wretched and Divine, The Story of the Wild Ones captures this essence with their [Read More]

July 10, 2013

It is time to get ready for some new music by Heavens Below. These guys have been delivering nonstop rock and roll and some of the most entertaining videos in the industry. Well, they have just finished their latest CD, “The Deadlight Sessions” which will be set for release in August/early September. They have released their first single, “The Needle Lies Again” for preview. So I can tell you that this new song is just incredible, from vocals to lyrics to guitar to everything. You are just engaged with this song. We asked Patrick Kennison, lead singer/guitarist of Heaven Below  about this song and  had this to say: “The song has an interesting story behind it. When I played the Ozzfest in my last band I made friends w/ several people in the other bands. One guy in particular was very cool & fun to talk to offstage. The ironic part is that his band was so over the top & brutal onstage. When I got the news that he had passed on May 24th 2010 [Read More]

The Show Must Go On for Papa Roach

July 3, 2013

Vocal issues have plagued lead singer Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach for some time now. It was last year that he spoke about a node forming on his vocal chord and which eventually led him to  have surgery. He successfully recovered from that surgery and has gone on to kick ass at shows with his incredible voice. He truly is one of my favorite vocalists! Last week, due to vocal issues, Papa Roach had to cancel their show in Berlin. They did continue on to play on the next shows but we are still concerned for Jacoby and his voice. Today he posted a photo of himself with the caption : OXYGEN AND STEROIDS FOR SWOLLEN VOCAL CHORDS!!! THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!! He mentioned that this is not anything new and he does have to do this about twice a year. We hope that this will help and that he will get the rest he needs for his vocal chords. We need you healthy Jacoby and hope you feel better. We want to keep [Read More]
