Prepare to be blown away by Centerlink

May 16, 2013

People ask me all the time how do I find my new music. There are so many ways, I get submissions daily, facebook messages, twitter and so much more. Sometimes you just happen to be in the right spot at the right time and you find a treasure! Today I have to tell you about the treasure I found completely accidental. As you know we went to Revolver Golden Gods Awards and we had bestowed upon the great David Draiman (Device and Disturbed) and his wife the award of Best Dressed Couple. I was on Twitter and ran across a tweet (you can see it in the photo slideshow) from a band that sent David Draiman a message about their music. I went to watch it and was BLOWN AWAY. Seriously just BLOWN AWAY. I thought I had found the lost recording of Metallica of 1985!  I went back to check the message so I could see the band name only to see David’s response to them about how the singer had some Hettfield in [Read More]

Check out some new Rock and Roll with Station from New York!

May 16, 2013

Station We have another great rock band from the Rocklahoma lineup to tell you about. They are Station, and even though they sound like they are right off the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, to my surprise they are from New York.  You have Patrick Kearney on Vocals, Chris Lane on guitar, Mike Anderson on Bass and Brian Karl on Drums. I just got their CD “Wired” in the other day after returning from the craziness of Golden Gods Awards/That Metal Show, etc so I was glad to be back and looking forward to  new music.  First, when I opened the envelope, I pulled out the CD and really liked the Cover. It is simple but just screams ROCK.  Secondly, I opened it up to see some pictures of the guys and shots of them at live shows. These guys definitely have a great rock look to them and I was really excited to continue on as I  popped in the CD, hoping they wouldn’t disappoint. Then, right off the start is their first song, “Everything” [Read More]

Randy Blythe and his personal plea to you!

May 15, 2013

Randy Blythe of Lamb of God has recently put out a plea to all. Randy is set to embark back on tour on May 16th with his first stop at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC. This will be one of the first shows since  being found not guilty of manslaughter charges by Czech judges that stems from a 2010 concert in which a 19 year old fan died, Daniel Nosek. Today Randy took his tumblr account with a plea to all: Be Carefully.  When I was a little boy, just learning to talk and still figuring out the intricacies of the English language, I would caution others to “be carefully”. Little kids say the funniest things, and they say these things with the sincerity and urgency of those whose possess an extremely limited vocabulary. I don’t remember ever saying “be carefully”, but my 92 year old grandmother loves to tell me about it. “I would be getting in the car to go to the grocery store, and you would look at me and say [Read More]

Interview with Delta Rose – Featured Band of Warped Tour

May 8, 2013

Last week when we were down in Los Angeles for the Golden Gods Awards we went to the Revolver Golden Gods Aftermath Party at The Viper Room.  What was even better about this night was that, Delta Rose was going to be opening up for Heaven’s Basement.  Delta Rose is one of our featured bands from the Warped Tour 2013 and we had a chance to interview them right out on the Sunset Strip. Truly a place where these guys belong. They bring out true old school rock and roll just like many of the bands that I have been featuring.  So, when people say, “Where is our Rock and Roll?’  All you have to tell them is check out Delta Rose! Here is our interview: I love the energy and enthusiasm these guys have. It is no wonder they recently got endorsed by Gibson. They are also working on the completion of their debut music video which is being shot by none other than the great Rob Fenn. Rob’s work has become unparalled in [Read More]

The Music Junkie Press “After Golden Gods Awards” Awards!!

May 7, 2013

Well I am home from my trip to the 5th Revolver Golden Gods Awards which took place last week at the Club Nokia in Los Angeles. I hope all of you had a great time watching the Black Carpet and the award show live on XBOX, Facebook or AXS TV.  There was so many great stories to share from that night, some we may have to keep quiet; but all in all it was a fantastic show. Sadly, hours before the Black Carpet, we got word of the passing of the great Jeff Hanneman from Slayer who died at the young age of 49 from liver failure. The night soon became filled with stories about Jeff and tributes to our fallen hero. Many drinks were shared and toasted to the life of Jeff and he will be greatly missed. Many awards were given out and here is the list of who won: BEST GUITARIST presented by Epiphone    John 5 (Rob Zombie & solo) BEST DRUMMER presented by Drum Workshop   Arejay Hale (Halestorm) PAUL GRAY BEST BASSIST presented by Dean [Read More]

Time to rock out to The Jaded

April 29, 2013

The Jaded It has been quite some time that I can say that my old stomping grounds, San Francisco has produced a great rock and roll band. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of great things have come from San Francisco.  Sourdough soup bowl from Boudin’s.  Seafood at the Wharf.  The Stinking Rose. Fun nights at Candlestick. but a great rock band…. not in a while… until now. We had the pleasure of seeing San Francisco rock band, The Jaded up here at the Last Day Saloon in Santa Rosa. These guys just bring old school rock and roll and wrap in everything from funk to old school sound, that just has you wanting more and more.  The Jaded is Jimmy Steal aka Sergio on vocals/rhythm guitar, Matt Notter on bass, Downey Orrick on lead guitar/backing vocals and Elliot Starno on drums and percussion.  These four come together to send you into rock and roll bliss with their sound. We had the chance to catch up with The Jaded at their recent show at the [Read More]
