12 Days of Christmas

Day 8 gives us Gone For Days for 12 Days of Christmas Rock!

December 19, 2012

12 Days of Rock Christmas! Day 8 On the 8th day of Christmas my Rock and Roll love gave to me some Guilty Pleasure by Gone For Days. I have been enjoying the rockin’ sound from this four piece band for the past year. If you have not heard of them, well you are just plain missing out. They are one of the bands that I first heard of through Octane Channel on Sirius Radio. I tend to get a long of my new finds from their late night radio play and it is great to see the song’s get increased airplay as the weeks go by and climb up the charts on the Octane Big ‘Uns Countdown and request charts. They have a sound that resonates Hard Rock with touches of Southern Rock and mixed in with emotionally driven vocals. If you like Black Stone Cherry, Hinder or Three Days Grace these guys are going to be right up your alley.  They give you a little of everything. You will get driving guitars, soul touching lyrics, [Read More]

Get your Rock and Roll Fix with Shotgun Harlot!

September 26, 2012

Sometimes with music today, I long to hear down and dirty ROCK n ROLL!! You know what I am talking about, right? The kind of Rock that has you with your fists in the air, drink in the other hand and just raising some hell with your friends. Those were the good days but wait, they don’t have to be in the past. There is a great band that I saw last month, Shotgun Harlot when they opened up for 12 Stones at the historical Phoenix Theater in Petaluma. You can revisit my review of that night here: “‘Get Infected with 12 Stones”.  That was an awesome night and I really fell in love with Shotgun Harlot. Well I recently had the opportunity to interview Dylan D. Waltz lead singer of the band and here is what he had to say: Music Junkie Press:     How and when did Shotgun Harlot come together? Dylan Waltz:   I was in the process of piecing together a new band when a mutual friend of Joe and [Read More]

New Music by Throwing Gravity will pull you in!

August 28, 2012

I wanted to let you know about a great new band that I have been listening to. It is Throwing Gravity and they are an alternative rock band with a Nashville edge that comes together beautifully. These guys just finished up a tour with another one of my favorite bands, 12 Stones and have been sharing the stage with other greats like My Darkest Days, Chevelle, Red and Evans Blue. Throwing Gravity was in great company with those bands and I am also sure gained many new fans with their own music. Their single, “Here we Go Again” has had multiple placements with NHL, MLB, and TNA Wrestling and next on their list is “The Inside”.  It is no wonder since both songs send out the good vibe and are energy driven.  The bass lines on The Inside are awesome. Here is their official video for “Here We Go Again” which will have you ready to face your battles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQ2iQIyit2k Their whole album, “It’s Not the End”, has such a great all around alternative rock sound [Read More]

Laurie Ann Layne delivers “Local Honey”

August 15, 2012

Get ready to call her Local Honey! Independent Nashville Rocker/Blues artist Laurie Ann Layne releases her new debut single, “Local Honey” and it will have you moving and grooving right from the start. As soon as I listened to the first few seconds I was in awe of Laurie Ann’s voice. It reminds me of the first time I heard Chrissy Hynde of the Pretenders. Laurie Ann delivers a fun and flirty sound to Nashville rock with the perfect touch of blues intertwined  in this song similar to early Cher. But even with these references, Laurie Ann in no way imitates; she has her own unique and powerful sound that will be taking over Nashville in no time and having everyone singing the catchy chorus. Laurie Ann will be releasing her EP later out this winter and I will keep you updated as to an official date. For the single “Local Honey” the official release date is September 4th, 2012 and it will be available for sale on Itunes and Amazon. For now you can [Read More]
