Space Monkeys get creative as they deal with the PledgeMusic fiasco

As the PledgeMusic crowdfunding fiasco still in a limbo state, and plenty of artists who are waiting on their payments, many bands have had to get creative in order to finish their projects.  The crowdfunding platform PledgeMusic has still not paid out the funds to so many campaigns. Artists are left on hold, fans are left waiting for their pledged items, and there has been no resolution in site, just a waiting game. The last statement from PledgeMusic was on February 1st. Check it out below:

A Statement from PledgeMusic

To the PledgeMusic community,

The situation that PledgeMusic has found itself in is unacceptable and to all of the artists, managers, labels and fans who have put their trust in us, we are deeply sorry.

All of us at the company are working around the clock to address everybody’s concerns and are hopeful of reaching a positive resolution soon.

To you artists especially, we understand that every last penny is vital to your project’s successful delivery and as such we wanted to share with you some of the concrete action that we have undertaken to date:

Firstly, PledgeMusic is a unique platform with millions of active users and we strongly believe that, notwithstanding our recent problems, PledgeMusic has very significant value.

We are in discussions with several interested parties about a potential partnership with or acquisition of PledgeMusic. These conversations, if successful, would lead to a transaction which would allow us to meet all of our outstanding obligations. As a result, we are hopeful that, as long as the company is given some breathing space to operate, a solution to these current problems will be found.

We cannot reveal further details of these conversations at present as we are bound by commercial sensitivities but as soon as we have any news we will release it.

Secondly, PledgeMusic is in advanced discussions with an independent third-party company to manage all artist funds going forward.

Finally, as previously announced, co-founder Benji Rogers has returned to the company as a volunteer strategic advisor and observer to the board of directors. Benji will assist and advise the new management and finance team on the inherited and existing issues, as well as with the forward planning for the company. His statement is HERE

Benji remains as full time Chief Strategy Officer of DotBlockchain Media.

In closing, the board and management team’s priority remains settling any and all back payments that are owed.

We ask for patience. We know that for a lot of you this must be wearing very thin, but we can only reiterate that we are fully focused on making this situation right.

Sincerely and with thanks,

The PledgeMusic Board and Management.

With projects at a standstill, many artists have taken the matter into their own hands to see how they can get their projects finalized. One of those bands, is the beloved alternative band from the 90’s Space Monkeys. The band had spent the last 12 months working on the release of their new album through the PledgeMusic campaign. You can read more about their project here. The band finished the recording of the album and are still waiting on payment from PledgeMusic. Meanwhile, they are ready to work on the album art for the new album. They recently posted the following on their social media sites about how you can be on their next album cover.

Ever wanted to be the face on a record sleeve?

We have decided to offer the opportunity for people to submit a ‘sealed bid’ to have their face featured as the main focus of the new album front cover artwork.

We are continuing to face problems with the Pledge Music campaign, they are still ignoring both us and our pledgers requests for refunds and unless something changes it isn’t looking likely that they will be paying us any of the money they owe us so we would advise you to request refunds for anything that you have pledged for and they are legally required to refund you in full.

In the meantime, we are looking to raise new funds in other ways to manufacture and release the album independently ourselves.

The idea to allow people to submit an offer came about as were discussing ideas for the new album artwork and we realised there are quite a few classic albums that feature people’s faces which have been etched in history.

If you would like to make an offer to be the face of the new Space Monkeys album then please send a message direct on here. The highest sealed bid will be selected. The winner would also receive a framed signed copy of the album.

So what are you waiting for? Head over to their Facebook Page and submit your sealed bid. Or maybe they can work on getting several photos on that album cover and accept more bids.  We wish them all the best with their new album and we hope PledgeMusic does the right thing soon, and PAY THEM and ALL THE ARTISTS!
