The new record “Barn” from Neil Young & Crazy Horse will be released December 10th via Reprise Records, the long-time home from the very start. The debut record of the band “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere”, was released in May 1969. Today’s members of Crazy Horse are Ralph Molina (drums), Billy Talbot (bass), and Nils Lofgren (multi-instrumentalist). Lofgren, a founding member of Crazy Horse, already played on “Tonight’s The Night”, “After The Gold Rush” and “Trans”.
After “Song Of The Seasons” and “Heading West“, the new single “Welcome Back” was released today.
Ten new songs, which capture the raw, wayward Rock’n’Roll spirit and the lyrical beauty, make up a classical NYCH-cooperation. The recording took place this summer during full-moon in a restored barn from the 19th century, high-up in the Rocky Mountains. Crazy Horse felt at home and the breathtaking love songs, contemplative ballads, and powerful rock songs from the album awoke naturally.
Produced by The Volume Dealers – Neil Young and Niko Bolas – the album will be released on vinyl, CD, cassette, and digital, including hi-res audio on Neil Young Archives (NYA). There will also be a Deluxe Edition, which includes the vinyl, the CD, and the blue-ray movie.
The movie of the same name – Barn – captures this legendary band in their element – in the wild, their light humor, their brotherhood, their humanity, and of course their music, live and recorded in its unique spontaneous manner. A blue-ray movie, produced by Daryl Hannah, will be available as an independent release.
Six behind-the-scenes photos will come along with the vinyl, which will be sold at The Greedy Hand Store at NYA and in independent record stores. The photos will also be available with all Deluxe boxsets.
