The Swedish visionaries of Avatar returned to Munich last week. This time, they played a bigger venue, the Tonhalle, and managed to sell it out completely in advance! The atmosphere was, as always, loaded with anticipation, and the “citizens of Avatar country” were not disappointed. It was an energetic show that led through many albums of the band. Most of the songs, though, came from their recent record “Don’t Go In The Forest”, but they also played all-time favorites like “The Eagle Has Landed” and “Bloody Angel”. After almost two hours, they closed their set with two more fan favorites, “Smells Like A Freakshow” and “Hail the Apocalypse”. Here’s the complete set-list: Captain Goat Silence in the Age of Apes The Eagle Has Landed In the Airwaves Bloody Angel Death and Glitz Blod The Dirt I’m Buried In Colossus Torn Apart Howling at the Waves Glory to Our King Legend of the King Let It Burn Tonight We Must Be Warriors Encore: Don’t Go in the Forest Smells Like a Freakshow Hail the Apocalypse Of [Read More]

Avatar back in Munich on the Dance Devil Dance tour

March 28, 2023

March 22nd Swedish Melodic Deathcore band Avatar finally made it back to Bavaria’s capitol city Munich. Like many shows this year, this was also a postponed tour. There was a venue change from the originally picked Freiheitshalle to the new Theaterfabrik in Munich. The venue itself is around the scene for ages now, but it moved in town several times. It’s now located in Johanneskirchen in a neighborhood that probably isn’t all too happy about having a live music venue close by. The inside looks pretty with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The layout of the venue tough is kinda weird, because the stage is opposite the doors on the long wall and it’s pretty small. So when you stand to the far left or right of the stage you can’t make out that much of what’s going on on stage. There’s also a balcony in the back, which gives a good view of the stage. From my perspective it was pretty hard for the bands to get the audience in high spirits, at least [Read More]

Avatar announce summer tour dates for North America

April 26, 2022

Swedish Melodic Death Metal band Avatar announced summer tour dates for North America/Canada for 2022 today. The tour will start July 6th in Toronto, ON. Light The Torch and Otep will be supporting them. “They don’t let us out much while we make our albums, so this summer will most likely turn out very dangerous for everyone involved. For all the tours we’ve done in North America, we have spent very little time there in the summer. Surely this must have led to a lot of unnecessary suffering that we are adamant on setting straight by applying necessary suffering. We know people crave some light-hearted tunes for their make-out sessions on the beach, and some sweet melodies as they watch the sun set over the lake. We are here to destroy every single moment of summertime serenity. The sun will be the second hottest thing you’ll see in July. To finally do something with Otep feels great, and to once again hit the road with Light the Torch will be awesome, as well.” General ticket [Read More]

Avatar release two new songs – US tour has started!

September 3, 2021

Melodic Death Metal band Avatar released two new songs this week “Going Hunting”, which comes with a video and “Barren Cloth Mother”. The songs couldn’t be any more different. While “Going Hunting” is starting out with a piano and slowly builds up into a powerful track, “Barren Cloth Mother” definitely shows the heavier side of the band. The new releases came just in time for the tour start in the US. Avatar will be out on the road in the States until October 18th. Make sure to catch them live at a place near you. European fans will have to wait a few months longer. Avatar will be back there in early 2022. Avatar announce the release of their new record ‘Hunter Gatherer’

May 5, 2020

Four days ago Swedish Melodic Death-Metal band Avatar officially closed the cycle of their latest record “Avatar Country” with a short video thanking the fans and summing up the years 2016 until now. ‘Avatar Country’ was more than ‘just’ a record. There was a concept and a story behind this album. They toured the world with it and even made a movie with the help of crowd-funding. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should really catch up. Check out ‘Legend Of Avatar Country: A Metal Odyssey’: Yesterday the band announced: ” A new door opens. A new era begins. Step into the darkness and see.” Just about 30 minutes ago, Avatar decrypted that message and announced the release of their new record. It’s called “Hunter Gatherer” and will be released August 7th.
