Our Last Night with Hands Like Houses, Hawthorne Heights and Jule Vera in Munich at the Backstage

November 11, 2018

On November 5th I had the pleasure to join yet another Our Last Night show. As usual great parts of the audience were quite young, but don’t get me wrong, there were also lots of guys in the audience. While the show started out with a quieter act, Jule Vera, it got more and more energetic through the sets of Hawthorne Heigts and Hands Like Houses. A perfect preparation for a killer set of Our Last Night. With four acts on the list, the show started earlier than usual at 9.15 pm. Different from most shows, the venue was already packed, when Jule Vera opened their set. Not what one would expect as an opener for Our Last Night, since they do play way heavier stuff, while Jule Vera mainly played quieter songs. Hawthorne Heights just finished a headliner tour through the UK and are right now touring the US & Canada with Silverstein. They are around for about 17 years now. In 2018 they released their latest record ‘Bad Frequencies’. With 500k followers on [Read More]

Lord Of The Lost – ‚Thornstar Tour’ makes a stop in Munich on October 19th at the Backstage Halle

October 23, 2018

Lord Of The Lost are regular guests in our beautiful Bavarian capital, where their singer Chris Harms spent some of his youth. For a while now, the band has two different tour packages – a quiet orchestra-like version with additional strings and a louder one. On August 3rd the band released their latest record ‘Thornstar’, which brought them out on a ‘louder’ tour this time. Special guest and support act was Scarlet Dorn. They just released their first album called ‘Lack Of Light’, which has been produced by Chris Harms and Benjamin Lawrenz. Scarlet Dorn had their first stage appearances on the 2017 tour of Lord Of The Lost. Due to fans’ demands, they took them out on the road again on this run. Other ties to Lord Of The Lost are their keyboarder Gared Dirge, who plays for both bands and members of Scarlet Dorn are also part of LOTL’s road crew. It’s one big family. Scarlet Dorn, the singer and namesake of the band, got discovered by Chris Harms and Benjamin Lawrenz from [Read More]

Greta Van Fleet kicks off their 3 day Rock-n-Roll Bay Area Takeover with stellar show at Fox Theater in Oakland

September 18, 2018

Rock-n-Roll, Alive and Thriving There is no denying it. Rock n Roll is alive and thriving, just ask last night’s sold out crowd at the Fox Theater in Oakland. Rockers Greta Van Fleet kicked off night 1 of 3 Bay Area shows that we have dubbed, “Rock n Roll Bay Area Takeover”. The young fast rising Michigan band has caught the attention of rock n roll fans of all ages, as the crowd was diverse and included a range of young fans on up to seasoned rockers. The band features, brothers Josh Kiszka, guitarist Jake Kiszka, bassist Sam Kiszka, and long time family friend Danny Wagner on drums. Their music is a resurrection of the classic 70’s riff-heavy rock dipped in soulful blues. The venue was packed solid as Greta Van Fleet took the stage. Within seconds of their start, the crowd erupted in cheers and the rock n roll flowed nonstop. It was unbelievable to watch the crowd react and sing along to the songs. It was as if they knew they were witnessing one of the early [Read More]

Armored Saint with Act Of Defiance at the Backstage in Munich

August 16, 2018

(08/07/2018) Last Tuesday I went out for a classy night of Metal music. Armored Saint did us the honor of playing in Munich again. And a special show that was, because they played one of their most popular records ‘Symbol Of Salvation’ in it’s entirety. During the show, the band honored and remember the one man, who played a big part in the success of this record – Dave Prichad, who died in 1990, way before the actual release of the record. Armored Saint were accompanied by another Metal Blade Records band, Act Of Defiance. Act of Defiance was formed in 2014 by ex-Megadeth members guitarist Chris Broderick and drummer Shawn Drover. They were joined by Matt Bachand (guitarist for Shadows Fall) on bass and singer Henry Derek (ex-Scar The Martyr). So far they have released two records. While every member of the band is a very experienced musician, they’re still working on forming a fan base, which they surely extended that night. Here are some pictures of a fabulous night: Act of Defiance   [Read More]
