Devin Townsend – Lightwork tour stops in Munich

Last time Devin Townsend made a stop in Munich during a tour has been with a very special evening of acoustic songs and q&a’s. This time he brought his latest record “Lightwork” to European stages. I had the pleasure of shooting the show at the Backstage for you and let me tell you, it was a hell of a show. He played a 90 minutes set with 13 songs from six records. He played four songs from “Lightwork”, starting the show with the bombastic song “Lightworker“. Setlist Lightworker Kingdom Dimensions Why? In November 2019 Devin Townsend will be back in Europe with the Empath Europe Volume 1 tour. Today he shared the full band line-up on Facebook: There have been only a few times throughout my career that I can safely say I’ve taken a chance as big as I’m about to take with these new touring plans. But I believe that to not take a chance on something as important to me as this can only lead to creative stagnation. It is with profound gratitude that I can announce this next tour. To be joined by musicians of this caliber, as well as crew and sound design of such a level, is something I am truly humbled by. As one who has been working professionally my whole career to be able to be allowed to pull something like this off, I really can’t say ‘thank you’ enough to everyone involved. In November 2018 Devin Townsend released some special tour dates for up, close and personal acoustic shows with Q&A’s for the fans afterwards. So here we were at the Freiheiz in Munich in April 2019. The show was, as was to be expected, sold out. Like many acoustic shows there were seats in neat rows and some bar stools on the side walls. The stage set up was simple, a chair, two acoustic guitars, a laptop, two monitors and a small sound effect board. But hey, you don’t need big amps, colorful lighting arrangements and loud music for a performance to be good. What you need is a musician who really loves what he’s doing and is an outstanding artist. With Devin Townsend we got everything we needed. The show lasted for three hours with a 20-minute break in-between. Devin performed songs like ‘Funeral’, ‘Sister’ and ‘Hyperdrive’, but also many from the Devin Townsend Project like ‘Bring Him Home’, ‘Ih-Ah!’ and ‘Let It Roll’. Devin Townsend releases intergalactic lyric video for Deathray off new double album Z²

Devin Townsend is gearing up for the release of his new long awaited double album. The album titled Z² is set for release on October 28th in the US and October 27th in Europe. The Z² project also will have him performing a landmark show at London’s legendary Royal Albert Hall on April 13, 2015.
