Gibson introduces Jason Isbell “Red Eye” collector edition

  Introducing a Collector’s Edition clone of Jason Isbell’s famous ’59 Les Paul, “Red Eye.” “Red Eye” was the long-time sidekick of Ed King of Lynyrd Skynyrd. After Ed passed away in 2018, six-time GRAMMY® Award-winning Americana artist Jason Isbell purchased Red Eye and often features it in his stage and studio performances. Only 59 of these exceptional instruments have been handmade by the expert luthiers of the Gibson Custom Shop and Murphy Lab in Nashville, Tennessee, as part of this extraordinary Collector’s Edition run. An Illustrious History  Like many ’59 Les Pauls, “Red Eye” has a unique and illustrious history. Much of the red color on the top faded while displayed in a store window, except for a patch below the toggle switch that was covered by a hangtag. SPOTLIGHT: DEVON THOMPSON RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE “SOFT LIKE WATER”

Today we bring the spotlight on to Los Angeles native Devon Thompson as she releases her debut single, Soft Like Water.  This new track is a must listen! Thompson comments about the song, “I was so insecure my whole life and felt like I wasted years worrying about what other people thought of me worrying about not fitting in,” says Thompson.  “I was watching a video of a creature on the bottom of the ocean floor being pulled around by the current, and I thought that was me. I have to write about it. Water is malleable. If you touch it even slightly, the wind blows it. It’s easily pushed around. It’s just like the little sea creature, helplessly shoved around by the ocean’s current. For our Day 79, we want to talk you back to NAMM 2014 and our highlight of NAMM 2014… Xander and the Peace Pirates. Xander and the Peace Pirates delivered a stellar set at the Gibson Booth. We had arrived  just in time as Xander and the Peace Pirates began. It was awesome! There is just something about this band that you can literally get goose bumps from listening to them. Their music emits raw emotion and you can’t help but feel the passion from their music. These brothers have a great bluesy rock sound that just penetrates your soul.   One of our favorite guitarists, Cat and vocalist Tyson from State Line Empire has been working on a solo project, Marigold for some time now. He has just released his first song, Death of Me,  from Marigold and it KICKS ASS! Incredible riff driven guitars, intense energy that completely invigorates you from start to finish, infectiously catchy and completely delivers a nice heavy dose of hard rock! One of our favorite guitarists, Cat from State Line Empire was recently featured on EMGtv performing his song Deus Ex Machina which is off his upcoming solo record, Marigold Project. We have been big fans of State Line Empire as they consistently deliver shows with a 150% energy and are true crowd pleasers. Cat is always there to shred away but in his recent spotlight, you will really get blown away by his performance.
