Mercury Lights Up Rickshaw Stop with an Electrifying Set

March 6, 2025

For a Tuesday night in San Francisco, the music was flowing at the Rickshaw Stop. Nashville indie rocker Mercury opened for The Backfires and delivered an incredible set that lit up the room. Despite the venue’s intimate size, the energy was massive—Mercury’s music and vocals captivated the crowd, filling the space with a vibrant, electric atmosphere. If you haven’t already, check out one of my favorite tracks, Swarm the Hive Mind—it’s one that will quickly make its way onto your playlist. Be sure to follow Mercury on social media so you don’t miss them the next time they hit the road! I will leave you with some of my favorite tracks and video:     Information & Links: Website: https://www.thebandmercury.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebandmercury Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0MaDtBu4Hw0qLH95poDSCk?si=SRTypXmzRxe4Shu4eg0LMg&nd=1&dlsi=f97179163e0147fb

New East Nashville Co-op Record Label Releases Darrin Bradbury’s Elmwood Park

September 21, 2016

(East Nashville, TN) “Our love is like the meth lab in your mother’s basement, crudely born from jugs far too willing to explode…” That is the opening line and a perfect set up for songwriter, Darrin Bradbury’s latest release aptly titled Elmwood Park: A Slightly Melodic Audiobook.  Featured this year in Rolling Stones’ 10 New Country Artists You Need to Know,Bradbury’s narrative style and quick witted punchlines draw frequent comparisons to the great John Prine, which is fair, but there are also sonic nods to the slouched nonchalance of indie rock luminaries Pavement or Silver Jews. His spin on storytelling is a hard pill to swallow for the faint of heart as his stories dig deep into the groundlings at the bottom of humanity, however, something most people despite their level of class, can be moved by.  Recorded at Eastside Manor Studios in East Nashville, TN, and produced by Gabe Masterson, Bradbury is backed by a master band of artists and musicians deep in the EN scene: Laur Joamets (Sturgill Simpson) on electric guitar and organ, Meghan Palmer [Read More]

DORYDRIVE’s new album Here’s To You is addictive!!

April 7, 2014

I have to share a secret with you…. I am addicted to the new album “Here’s To You” by DoryDrive and I mean addicted!  DoryDrive is an alternative rock/ pop rock band from Nashville and they have released their full length album earlier this year. It is definitely making an impact. DoryDrive is Mathieu Nevitt on Vocals, Tom LaBrosse on Guitar, Henry Koller on Guitar, Nick Mendini on Bass and Joey Zak on Drums. As soon as you take a first listen, starting with Radiate you can’t help but be captivated by the infectious vocals of Mathieu Nevitt. He almost reminds me of my fave vocalist, Myles Kennedy. It is awesome to hear fresh new music that immediately grabs your attention and then continues on with the next song.  Paramour has emotionally driven lyrics that ring through passionate vocals and catchy melodic hooks. This band definitely delivers a complete package and holds nothing back in their delivery. Here’s To You has a sweet seductive intro that builds into a rockin song. It is probably my most favorite song, but honestly every song [Read More]

The Bloody Nerve hits the spot with their EP “RED”

October 23, 2013

The Bloody Nerve has definitely hit the right spot with their new EP, or as they call it their 3P “RED“. It has three very rockin songs that will have begging for more. It starts off with the haunting  mysterious tune, “Find Ya Love” and of course Laurie Ann Layne delivers her spectacular vocals and Stacey Blood on guitars highlights this sweet composition. This song has such a mystical vibe and will be a contagious one!  . Next is my old favorite, “Local Honey“. I am so glad to see Local Honey on this EP and this version is heavier and deeper and I absolutely love it! This song will have you moving and grooving right from the start.  As I mentioned before when we first introduced you to Laurie Ann Layne her voice reminds me of the first time I heard Chrissy Hynde of the Pretenders. Laurie Ann delivers a fun and flirty sound to Nashville rock with the perfect touch of blues intertwined in this song similar to early Cher. But even with [Read More]

Laurie Ann Layne delivers “Local Honey”

August 15, 2012

Get ready to call her Local Honey! Independent Nashville Rocker/Blues artist Laurie Ann Layne releases her new debut single, “Local Honey” and it will have you moving and grooving right from the start. As soon as I listened to the first few seconds I was in awe of Laurie Ann’s voice. It reminds me of the first time I heard Chrissy Hynde of the Pretenders. Laurie Ann delivers a fun and flirty sound to Nashville rock with the perfect touch of blues intertwined  in this song similar to early Cher. But even with these references, Laurie Ann in no way imitates; she has her own unique and powerful sound that will be taking over Nashville in no time and having everyone singing the catchy chorus. Laurie Ann will be releasing her EP later out this winter and I will keep you updated as to an official date. For the single “Local Honey” the official release date is September 4th, 2012 and it will be available for sale on Itunes and Amazon. For now you can [Read More]
