PREMIERE: Highway Terrier is Reviving Rock with new release Covid Blues

August 28, 2025

Highway Terrier is a rising new band out of Davis, California, and they are ready to make big waves with the release of their new track Covid Blues. The song carries the grit of early blues-influenced classic rock, fueled by raw energy and an authentic sound that feels both fresh and nostalgic. We had the chance to chat with Ben Sherstinsky and what you to get to know your new favorite band! Founder/Guitarist Ben Sherstinsky shares how Highway Terrier came about, In the fall of 2024, I had recorded four songs where I played all or most instruments on each track, and did the lead vocals on two of them. The time came to form a live band, so I brought together some people I had played and performed with in the past, as well as some new people, most of whom I knew from UC Davis. I knew I wanted a singer with a raspy, gritty timbre, and once I heard Christian Bush sing I knew he was the guy. One Sunday night, both [Read More]

The Scarlet Opera tops our BottleRock Napa 2024 highlight list

May 28, 2024

Every year BottleRock brings us that one band that stands out from all the rest and arrives at the top of our highlight list. This year the honors are taken by an up and coming LA rock band, The Scarlet Opera. The band is led by lyricist and frontman Luka Bazulka and and equally talented band members; Colin Kenrick [keyboard], Daniel Zuker [bass], Justin Siegal [drums], and Chance Taylor [guitar].   If I had to simply describe them, it would be; imagine if Queen, Styx and My Chemical Romance had a musical orgy. They are a mesmerizing fusion of glam rock, alternative and pop, bringing to life a dynamic and theatrical performance. The band delivered electrifying guitars, catchy synth-driven melodies and powerful captivating vocals, creating a soundscape that is both nostalgic and contemporary. Their stage presence is equally captivating with dramatic lighting and engaging choreography, transporting the audience into a world where music and theater collide. From the moment they hit the stage I was completely enthralled and their charisma throughout the set never wavered [Read More]

Killed the Fixtion release powerful new song, Mother

September 15, 2014

Last year I told you the story of how I found the great heavy metal/rock band Killed the Fixtion. I told you about “Music was their outlet and they have delivered a sound that just really invokes bad ass metal. It is almost like Pantera sprinkled with some Sevendust and Stevie Ray Vaughn all at the same time! You will love them, I know I am getting hooked.” You can read more from that original post here. Killed the Fixtion have recently released a new song, Mother that is truly powerful and has a great message of hope and faith. In a time when it is hard to find people who care about the troubles of the world, it is rewarding to hear that we are not alone and have faith. We care about the state of the world today and this song truly captures that message. I absolutely love the raw emotion and thought provoking lyrics. So, take a couple minutes to check it out and share it with your friends. Maybe we can all [Read More]
