Panic! at the Disco bring their spectacular stage show to SJSU on The Gospel Tour

August 30, 2014

Thursday night be tackled the dense notorious Bay Area traffic to make it down just in time for The Gospel Tour concert at San Jose State University. Panic! at the Disco headlining tour featuring support by Walk the Moon and Youngblood Hawke was one we were not going to miss. Panic! at the Disco had an amazing stage set up with probably one of the best light shows I have seen in a long time. It is great to see a band that places an importance on the set, lights, backing led screen. The members were strategically spread out across the stage and yet they didn’t feel isolated or separated.  Vocalist, Brendon Urie, whom earlier this year won for Best Vocalist at the APMA awards proved once again that he is well deserving of the award. His powerful vocals, charming swagger and personality just shine through each song. He has great stage presence and intense energy that lit up the stadium. The guitarists would sprint across the stage and make sure that they would treat [Read More]

Interview with Doyle as he is out on the Annihilate America Tour!

August 29, 2014

Legendary Ex-Misfits guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein has broken new ground with his solo project, “DOYLE”. His horror based hardrock metal band is currently out on their Annihilate America Tour! One thing is for sure, Doyle is bringing the intensity and energy to stages across the US. Check out the tour dates below but make sure to visit the tour dates on his Facebook page for the most recent dates(San Francisco is off): This is one tour not to miss. Doyle is amazing on guitar, he has this larger than hulk like presence and kicks out his smoking guitar riffs. You are just in awe and with the angst filled vocals of Alex Story and  you are in hardrock heaven. Doyle released The Abominator which is filled with 11 bad ass tracks to fuel your need for heavy monster metal. You can pick up your copy on iTunes here. We had the opportunity to chat with Doyle earlier this week as he is out on tour. We chatted about his album, how the tour is [Read More]

An Interview with Jeff Nisen of Lose Control by Patrick O’Heffernan

August 29, 2014

Los Angeles. Patrick O’Heffernan.  Lose Control just wrapped up a 40-day tour  which they delightfully chronicled on their web site in daily (well, almost daily) tour notes.  Following the band on the tour has been almost as much fun as listening to them, and they are a lot of fun to listen to.  This is heavy metal, but with a few twists, including dual guitar leads.  Everybody in the band is very, very talented and nobody in the band is egotistical – they play together like clockwork and the result is a sound of beauty. Jeff Nisen co-founded the band with A.J.  Bartholomew down the road from me in Hermosa Beach in 2011.  They had been playing music together since they were in middle school together.  They each formed their own separate bands after high school and then they reunited after honing their heavy metal skills. Drummer/producer  Mike Sutherland joined soon thereafter. Lose Control came to life and  started working on a debut album , Lose Control EP, released in 2012.   The band didn’t stop for a [Read More]

When Earth Awakes bring the spotlight on local metalcore

August 28, 2014

Last Friday when we made it out to the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, we were treated to many great bands, Breakaway Patriot, Pushing the Sun, Approaching Fiction and now the spotlight is on Petaluma band, When Earth Awakes. It was great to see that the headlining band was from Petaluma. These guys came out and gave their 150% energy, regardless of the size of the crowd, these guys were their to deliver an incredible set. Their music brings a spotlight on this local band as a great blend of hardcore/metalcore. One of the highlights of their set was when they performed an amazing cover of One Republic’s Counting Stars. Talk about a band taking a cover and truly making their own, that is exactly what these guys do. Check out the video here: They may be fairly new, but they are definitely one band to take notice and watch them as they embark on the rise through their musical journey. We picked up their EP at the show and it is stellar. With heavy tracks like [Read More]

Breakaway Patriot will capture your attention with their new EP Hiraeth

August 28, 2014

Breakaway Patriot from San Francisco featuring Brad Tyner, Tyler Gomez and Michael Miller are set to grab your attention. Most recently we featured Breakaway Patriot as they released their emotionally driven and well produced music video for their song, The Homecoming. It is an amazing video that brings attention to all the heroes and warriors who return home from serving their nation, only to return and never be the same. It is a great tribute to all Veterans and is so deserving of your attention. The Homecoming is off their EP Hiraeth which was released earlier this year, music was recorded and engineered by Matt Taylor of Castro Valley. In addition, Vocals, Mixing and Mastering was by Josh Cobb of Rockbot Studios in Jacksonville, FL. Hiraeth contains six songs yet packs a full album of emotions and feelings in this well produced EP. It starts right off with the powerful guitar intro of Indestructible and is a great rock song with an alternative edge. This is definitely one of my favorite tracks that you can [Read More]
