We spoke to Archie to talk about their recent announcement that they will be making their US debut at The Webster Hall in New York City on December 12th. Stay tuned for new music by Shimon Moore and follow his new social media sites!

October 26, 2014

Just last week, we heard the news about the announcement of the departure of Shimon Moore of Sick Puppies. Shim has one of the most amazingly powerful vocals and I so excited to hear that he will be continuing on with his music. That is one voice that cannot and should not be silenced! Shim has since released his own statement via his Facebook page: On October 20th Sick Puppies announced that I was leaving the band. This was the first I had heard of it. The truth is that there was tension in the band after the many years of touring. I had hoped that some time apart would resolve these issues and lead us to the next phase of our career. It unfortunately seems that Emma and Mark have decided to move on with a new singer instead. It has taken a couple of days for me to respond because I have needed a bit of time to get over the news. Emma, Mark and I have done the impossible together. We turned a [Read More]

UPON THIS DAWNING deliver a heavy well needed dose of metal to San Francisco at the DNA Lounge

October 25, 2014

Last night everyone in San Francisco was going wild over watching the SF Giants in the World Series except for us at Music Junkie Press. We were at the exact place we wanted to be…. at the DNA Lounge for the fierce set of Upon This Dawning! We have been waiting for this show and were so excited to catch their set. Upon This Dawning are from Italy and bring a heavy dose of metal sprinkled with orchestra elements/EDM. What you are given is the perfect blend to head bang or keep you moving on your feet. The show was held at the Above DNA stage which is great for harnessing the energy of the intimate room and on this night, you couldn’t contain the fluid energy that was flowing through the stage and the crowd. The crowd was probably one of the heaviest I have seen in a while at the Above DNA and it was awesome! Complete with full mosh pits, circle pits, jumping and head banging galore. Upon This Dawning have an [Read More]

October 24, 2014

The Not Your American Idols Tour made a stop into Sacramento earlier this week. Unfortunately due to vehicle troubles, For All Those Sleeping and Myka Relocate were unable to perform. Capture The Crown delivered a great cinematic metalcore set which featured their  new members from a lineup change. Jeffrey Wellfare announced the new members of Maurice Morfaw on bass, Ryan Seretti on drums and Kyle Devaney on guitar through a Facebook post earlier this month. Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set at the Assembly: They definitely raised the intensity of the crowd and delivered a dose of adrenaline to all in the crowd. If you get a chance to check them out, there are still several remaining tour dates: 10/24 – Seattle, WA – El Corazon 10/25 – Boise, ID – The Shredder 10/26 – Salt Lake City, UT – In The Venue 10/27 – Colorado Springs, CO – Black Sheep 10/29 – Nashville, TN – The End 10/30 – Indianapolis, IN – Emerson Theatre 10/31 – Pontiac, MI – [Read More]

Palisades at Assembly Music Hall in Sacramento for the Not Your American Idols Tour

October 24, 2014

Earlier this week we braved the 3+ hour traffic to Sacramento and did get there in time to catch Palisades hit the stage at the Assembly Music Hall. This was our first time at the new Assembly, but it was great to see that it is under the same ownership/management as our fave Sacramento stop, Ace of Spades. The staff was exceptional and the venue set up is ideal for a crowd to feel the energy from the stage. Palisades definitely delivered on the energy! They got the crowd engaged and ready to rage. The intimate atmosphere really allowed for the crowd to feed off the artist’s vibe. There was no one left standing still when Palisades took the stage. Their music brings the perfect fusion of EDM and Post-hardcore an inviting style that appealed to all. One drawback is the extremely dark venue and the little to no lighting which even at 6400 iso, it was tough to catch any good shots. Check out the photos from their set: Palisades have a couple more [Read More]

Lyric video from Blue Eyed Christ and enter their contest to be part of their Freakshow video!

October 24, 2014

Industrial electronic rocker Blue Eyed Christ released a lyric video earlier this week for their cover of Gary Glitter and later Joan Jett song, Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah). Check it out here: Blue Eyed Christ is the project of mixer/producer/engineer, John D. Norten who explains about the cover, “I’ve always been a big fan of Joan Jett. I love the mix of raw energy and sexual tension in her version of “Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)”. I actually didn’t even know it was originally a Gary Glitter song until after I recorded my version. Mine is much more true to the Joan Jett version but modernized with big drums, huge guitars, heavy synths, and a dose of noise to give it the Blue Eyed Christ sound. “ Blue Eyed Christ was first started by John as a teen in 1991. He then released a couple albums but it has been 12 years since his last release of American Whore. The new album, A Rush and a Thrill, is a whirlwind ride [Read More]
