SAN FRANCISCO: Don’t miss Old Best Friend perform at 50 Mason this Friday!

May 28, 2015

Attention San Francisco! I have the perfect show to check out this Saturday night. Old Best Friend will be performing at 50 Mason Social House in San Francisco. Event details are located here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1378731755790163/. Old Best Friend is true to it’s name as it brings the familiarity of that old best friend who holds all your secrets and dreams. The friend that shared in good times and was there to comfort you in the bad times. Mike Comite tasted success when he was the bassist of Julia Nunes and performed on Conan and at Bonnaroo. He then went on to embrace his own career and I am sure glad he did. He is set to release his first full length album Living Alone on July 30th. His music has been eloquently described as ” With a Manchester Orchestra (and little brother Kevin Devine) meets Weezer sound”. From first listen, you will be drawn into the depths of your Old Best Friend. Make sure to visit his social media sites and stay up to date on his latest [Read More]

Our Band of the Day is The Phoenix Within

May 28, 2015

Today’s Band of the Day goes to acoustic indie rockers The Phoenix Within.  When you take a listen to them, you can’t help but be drawn to the emotions that their songs bring out. They express such honesty and vulnerability in their music. For example, my favorite track, Sharks and it is wrapped in beautiful sentiment. It is quite astounding at how infectiously catchy that song really is! Take a listen and you will agree. They will soon be releasing their new EP Natalie Rose later this summer. Another exciting thing is that they are looking to perform on the Ernie Ball Stage during Vans Warped Tour. They are competing for the chance to perform with the Battle of The Bands Warped Tour Contest. Check it out here: http://warped.battleofthebands.com/u/thephoenixwithin. We hope they win! Band Members: Omar Feliciano – Guitar/Vocals Ken O’donohue – Bass/Vocals   Genre:  Indie Acoustic Rock Location: Mahwah, GA Feature: Acoustic rock, emotionally driven lyrics, infectious pop choruses Music: EP Natalie Rose set to release this summer Song to check out: Free Myself Video to check out: Sharks We will [Read More]

Interview with Shadows of Eyekahna, contributed by Drift N Die

May 27, 2015

Straight from Boston, dripping in clown white and red blood, comes Shadows of Eyekahna! This theatrical rock band is working hard to give their crowds a show worth seeing. Recently bassist Brandon Blackout and drummer Izzy Scott allowed me to pick at their brains quite a bit! DND: What’s the concept & message of Shadows of Eyekahna? Izzy: The concept behind the band is that we’re a rock ‘n’ roll band trying to put on a show and stand out. We wear 20 pounds of make up, have big drum sets, cool looking guitars, and spit blood on each other for the entertainment of the people who come to our shows. Which, many local bands in our area and bands in general do not do or want to do. Brandon: The message itself, I would say, is that we’re tired of being chained to various cycles that are expected of local bands and civilians in general. We are here to play music because we enjoy it, and we enjoy theatrics because it gives folks their money’s [Read More]

The Agonist announces dates for Revolver Magazine’s Women In Rock Tour

May 27, 2015

Montreal based The Agonist have recently released their fifth studio album THE EYE OF PROVIDENCE via Century Media. They have also just announced dates for Revolver Magazine’s Women In Rock Tour which will be co-headlined by Dutch symphonic metal titans EPICA and Swiss folk metallers ELUVEITIE. Check out their video for “Danse Macabre” which is on their new album: ‘THE EYE OF PROVIDENCE, or God’s all-seeing eye, is a piece of religious iconography with origins stemming back to ancient Egypt. But THE AGONIST aren’t going all History Channel on their new album. The lyrical center isn’t about pyramids, the Freemasons, or its appearance on the United States one-dollar bill. As on previous albums, The Agonist are commenting heavily on advances in monitoring technology, particularly as it relates to governments intruding on the private lives of its citizens.’ Guitarist Danny Marino comments, “We are embracing a number of new topics. The Agonist still wants to be a voice for change. However, there are many socio-political and personal topics that we haven’t yet covered. We get into some of those on this record.”  Check [Read More]
