State Line Empire returned to the Whisky A GoGo for an epic set

July 13, 2015

State Line Empire returned to the Whisky A GoGo this past Friday for an incredible set. They were opening for Adler and it was a packed house. Interesting enough, the first time I saw State Line Empire play was when they opened for Steven Adler’s previous band, Adler’s Appetite at the Red Devil Lounge a few years back. The venue was packed and the energy was overflowing as State Line Empire took to the stage. They completely rocked the house and sounded solid. Check out some photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:   In case you missed them, we are pleased to announce that they will be returning to the Whisky on September 30th as they open for Marty Friedman. That is one show you are not going to want to miss! So make sure to get your tickets early.   Also check out a live footage video for Break Me Down when they performed in San Francisco at DNA Lounge: Visit their social media sites and stay up to date so you won’t miss [Read More]

Athena at Hotel Café: A Greek goddess with musical gifts for us all by Patrick O’Heffernan

July 13, 2015

I have often remarked that, as the music capital of the USA, Los Angeles attracts talent from not only around the country, but from around the world – and often the artists who come here bring with them global experiences and influence that make the Southern California music mix such a rich tapestry.  Wednesday night at Hollywood’s renowned showcase club, the Hotel Café, a major new thread was added to that tapestry – Athena, (AKA Athena Andreadis) the Anglo-Greek singer, actress, poetry and prose author who spans two and now three continents.   Born in London of Greek parents, but raised in Greece with its own rich musical history, she moved back to the UK at 18 and began racking up awards for music, poetry and prose and then earned a degree in business administration.  None of that mattered when she took the stage in relaxed denim short shorts and a beige sleeveless top, beamed a luminescent smile at the standing room crowd and delivered a performance worthy of Mt Olympus. The 11-song set  [Read More]

Tour de Compadres delivers outstanding performance in San Francisco. Review by Valeria Rosa

July 13, 2015

At the beginning of the night the audience took photos, chatted, and ordered drinks while waiting for the first band known as Colony House to start performing. When Colony House walked onstage the crowd, of course, applauded and cheered loudly. Colony House’s performance did not disappoint. Every member of the band danced around the stage with so much energy. Colony House warmed up the audience perfectly for the other outstanding performances later that night. The next band that took the stage was Drew Holcomb. Drew Holcomb did a fantastic job at keeping the audience’s excitement going after Colony House’s performance. With two bands down and two to go the audience was still dancing and having the time of their lives. The next band known as Switchfoot generated a larger audience. Even the photographers started to pile in to take photos during this performance. Not surprisingly, Switchfoot put on a fantastic performance that generated a feeling of positivity in the audience. Their performance actually contained the highlight of the night—By the end of the performance, as Switchfoot [Read More]

Adler ROCKS The Whisky A GoGo

July 12, 2015

This past Friday was a night to remember.  We made the trek down to Hollywood to catch Adler perform at The Whisky A GoGo.  The night included great sets by many bands, especially one of our favorite bands, State Line Empire who fired up the crowd with full energy shortly before Adler took to the stage. We didn’t get the chance for our interview with Adler as time was tight and also there were so many family and friends who came out to see Adler perform.  The support was awesome and you could really feel the energy amongst everyone. We hope to bring you an interview with them soon so we can talk about their upcoming South America tour, new music and the return to the stage. The night was filled with many fans and of course many Guns n Roses fans. Don’t get me wrong, I love Guns n Roses and I love Steven’s history with it, but that to me is the past. While many were in anticipation of hearing Guns n Roses [Read More]

Interview with The Augments Project contributed by Meryl DeWitt

July 10, 2015

In a music scene begging for something new constantly, The Augments Project is here to answer the demands! This new act is bringing forward an interesting sound for your ears. Through the screaming and heaviness, they aim to teach hope to their listeners in an unconventional manor. Recently frontman Jimmy Trigger talked with Drift N Die Press about the band’s structure, along with insight inside his own mind. Drift N Die: Can you give me a brief description of what your act is all about? Jimmy Trigger: The way I describe it is ‘Synth Soaked Anthem Metal’ a mix of our old school and new school genres combined.   DND: How did the band come to form it’s current lineup? Jimmy: Johnny had been toying with the idea of starting something new. Basically it all came together in one meeting. I knew none of the guys, we met in a coffee shop, stared at each other for a bit…an hour later we were writing music. DND: At what point growing up did you decide to [Read More]
