Kalsey Kulyk’s Part 3 is a peculiar magic that exists in our past and her present. By Patrick O’Heffernan

August 8, 2015

Los Angeles. I have talked here about the “Canadian Invasion” – the flow of talented musicians from Canada to the US that seems to be a permanent fixture of the music scene in both countries.  We have interviewed many of them here – Maggie Szabo, Olivia Penalva and the band YUCA are three that come to mind.  Recently I was introduced to the music of another Canadian, Kalsey Kulyk. Kulyk is from a tiny town on the Hudson Bay of 1500 souls, but her talent is much, much bigger.  After a very rough bout with cancer and chemotherapy when she was 19, she moved to Las Vegas to work with famed record producer, Richard Dashut (Fleetwood Mac).  Dashut saw her potential and developed her style and sound so deftly that she landed a record deal with Phaymis Records. Her self-titled debut EP, produced by Lannie Williams, did so well last year that she expanded it to two volumes (Kalsey Kulyk Part 1 and Part 2) and has just released a new single, “Rewind”.   Kalsey [Read More]

The Delta Saints deliver an epic rockin blues set out on tour, that is not to be missed!

August 6, 2015

We recently brought you some information about the infectious music of Nashville blues rockers, The Delta Saints. We were able to catch their set last night at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley. The venue is ideal for capturing a band that delivers such energy and emotion when they perform and that is exactly what The Delta Saints did last night. We had the chance to chat with vocalist/guitarist and bassist, Ben Ringel and David Supica earlier before their set and will be bringing that interview to you later this weekend. The Delta Saints kicked off the night with a set of swampy blues rock that would invigorate you and awake your soul. I have enjoyed their CDs but they truly take it to another level when you watch them perform. They dig deep and give every last bit of energy and emotion into each song. Ben’s vocals carry such a depth of emotion along with the swampy grooves on keys, blistering guitars, funktastic bass lines and on point hard hitting drums. What I love about [Read More]

Tara Macri releases feel good video for her song, Prettiest Girl In The Room

August 4, 2015

Los Angeles based singer, Tara Macri releases new video for her song, Prettiest Girl In The Room and it truly is a great feel good song for a much needed pick me up. Everyone has those times where they feel hopeless, sad or in despair and it may seem so hard to rise from those feelings. What is special, is when you have that one person whom you know you can call on, to make you feel like the Prettiest Girl In The Room. That is the message behind the song. Tara comments about the video, The fashion and look in the video was inspired by Audrey Hepburn. We were going for a modern day Audrey Hepburn look. I love her uniqueness & classiness and have always been a huge fan of hers. In any situation I always ask – what would Audrey Hepburn do?” Check out the video here: Tara brings out such a natural honesty when she sings and creates an emotional connection with the listener. We will see if we can bring [Read More]

INSOMNIUM announces tour replacement for Niilo Sevanen

August 4, 2015

Finnish melodic death metallers INSOMNIUM are just about to embark on their headlining North American tour this week. They have also announced a live replacement for vocalist/bassist Niilo Sevanen. The band comments: “Dear fans, Last Saturday we got unexpected phone call while driving to Gothoom Festival in Slovakia. Unfortunately, serious illness had taken place in Niilo’s close family. We all felt devastated but somehow we were still able to pull through the show. However, due to these unpredicted circumstances, there was no way Niilo could have been able to leave his family behind and attend the upcoming US tour. Family is the most important thing and always comes first. We were left with two equally bad options. To cancel the tour altogether or to go and try to find replacement for Niilo in couple of days notice. We had already invested considerable amount of money on this tour and whole tour personnel had made commitments to take time off from other work to do this tour. At the same time we felt really bad [Read More]
