Prescriptions by Krysta Youngs: wickedly clever, agonizingly honest and more addictive than cocaine. By Patrick O’Heffernan

October 5, 2015

(Los Angeles) I like Krysta Youngs for  many reasons, foremost of which is that she has something to say and she says it expertly with notes, lyrics, makeup, eyeglasses, costumes and songs. Youngs plays with your mind while entertaining your eyes and ears and she does it in spades in Prescriptions.  The lyrics are wickedly clever poetic rapiers drawing blood painlessly, set to music more addictive than cocaine,   Trained at Berklee College of Music, America’s premier music college, she  Some call what she does alt. pop, others say its electronica, or even EDM. Whatever you call what she does, her new EP, Prescriptions makes it crystal clear that Kysta Youngs is a superb artist, a fascinating woman and a very, very talented musician whose commentary on life sometime draws blood, but always draws applause.  Prescriptions will garner both.   The buzz about this EP is for her breakout and very pointed song, “Xanax (a love song)” which uses a metaphor of the anti-depressant drug that represents one out of every eight prescriptions written [Read More]

Ozone Mama’s new album Sonic Glory celebrates the authentic sound of rock and roll!

October 3, 2015

Ozone Mama, hailing from Budapest, Hungary have continued to capture my attention with their music. They have wholeheartedly given a fresh new facelift to the classic rock of the 60’s and 70’s. As I have mentioned before, they bring out a heavier vibe and an absolutely addictive sound. I can’t get enough of them. The gritty vocals of Marton are so infectious and sultry. He brings out such a nostalgia for 70s classic rock. The guitars are sexy and dirty and have that raw edge that the Golden Era of Classic Rock would maintain. Ozone Mama has just released a new album, Sonic Glory and is a brilliant work of art. This album truly celebrates the authentic sound of rock and roll which has been missing for some time now in the scene. The seven song album is filled with the infectious rockin tracks reminiscent of the 60’s or 70’s yet swaddled in a modern vibe. The first thing that stood out is the amazingly authentic vintage sound that the album has and I love! [Read More]

Take a listen to the title track off new Blue Stahli album, The Devil

October 2, 2015

Today Blue Stahli  releases their highly anticipated sophomore effort, ‘The Devil.’  Three years in the making, the album features 12 high-energy tracks showcasing Blue Stahli’s talent for creating unique mixes with metal riffs, rock hooks, and heavy electronic-infused production. Check out the title track here: Blue Stahli comments about the album, “I made this album to be a kinetic blast of electronic rock that throws you headfirst into a hyper-edited mashup of neon cyberpunk flicks, the atmospheric VHS glow of sci-fi and horror…the surreal fantasticism of weird fiction. Each album I aim for making an event soundtrack to your favorite late-night, go-to movie that doesn’t exist (yet). This beast is built of massive guitars, pop hooks, an onslaught of electronics, and cinematic atmosphere meant to engulf you and create a world you can escape to.” The album captures the best of both the electronic and heavy rock ‘n’ roll world. It brings the nostalgia of 90’s to life in a high energy sea of rock, pop, metal and more!  You can pick up the new [Read More]
